i have heard you need the original fallout 2 to play fallout online, hopefully this is not true

also, will fonline be on steam, gamesas would get a lot of money from this and since they already have fallout series on steam i dont see why not

I think it's safe to say what you heard about Fallout is false, I'm 99.9% sure Fallout Online will be a standalone title due to the new engine and all.

There is a fan created mod called "fonline", that requires FO2.

We will be using a brand new engine from Masthead, the makers of Earthrise.

And since Fonline 2238 is free and fan made I don't think steam would carry it. Any body can just download from the official site whenever they want.

On steam? No, no. It will be on fire! Maybe you'll sit and sigh, wishing that I were near
Then maybe you'll ask me to come back again
And maybe I'll say "Maybe"

I for one hope that fool will be released on Steam, I hate having DVDs around that end up all scratched after a few months. Especially since I mostly play on my laptop, which sits in my lap most of the time...
Digital distribution could give more money to the developer, depending on what deal they have with their publisher. Considering that some gamesas games are already on Steam, I see no reason that they won't at least release it on Steam as well.

I cannot understand what these problems with Steam are, because I haven't had problems with Steam since it was launched back in... When was that again? Nor do I know anyone who have problems with Steam.

gamesas is on Steam, plus most MMO's historically provide the game client for free, you just need to pay for a subscription.

Physical media is only for the 1337 anyway.

FOnline2238 is a no-go I'll be honest a say. I play it with friends but beyond that if you want a noob-friendly game steer clear.

Any game can be added to Steam by going to Games > Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library and Browsing to your desired game's .exe file

Then just launch the game through Steam and you're sorted.
