My opinion on all of this Baldur's Gate rights stuff

In my eyes, there are 3 things the company can do.

1. Fight for the rights of everything, which could result in a very good Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 3.

2. Use the Dark Alliance name to make a world of their own, becoming independent from the Dungeons and Dragons and Baldur's Gate names.

3. Wait until the next generation of consoles, then ask for permission to make Baldur's Gate 3 as a game available for release, as there would be lots of fans of the Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance series, as well as it being a game available at the beginning of a new generation of consoles, setting the groundwork for the revamp of the entire series.

Now I'll go into more depth on these 3 options.

1. Fight for the rights of everything, which could result in a very good Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 3.

Though it would be difficult, getting all the rights so that gamesas are able to create a full blown, direct sequel to Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2, it would be very beneficial. There'd be many people who remember the Dark Alliance games from years ago, and probably would be eager to pick it up. There'd also be more customers due to the fact that it was a half finished story, and that cliffhanger at the end is just asking for a good sequel.

So, if gamesas and Atari and whoever else settle their difference for the sake of gaming, the Xbox 360, PS3, and possibly PC/Wii/whateverelse could have a new brilliant co-op game to close the generation. This could also spark a new sequel after that. This is of course a very optimistic approach to what could happen. . If the first game were to not sell enough copies, or if there wasn't an agreement between all parties, then that could really mean the end for the Dark Alliance series.

2. Use the Dark Alliance name to make a world of their own, becoming independent from the Dungeons and Dragons and Baldur's Gate names.

I'm sure we'd all love the story of Dark Alliance 2 to continue, but obviously with all of these complications, it seems that it is merely a dream. Although, what if gamesas were to take the Dark Alliance name, and make an entire new series? It could have the same gameplay, the story could be in the same style, but it could just have it's own world which isn't in any way at all related to Baldur's Gate, or Dungeons and Dragons. By doing this, gamesas no longer need the rights from the other companies, and get to keep the Dark Alliance series 'alive'.

As many people have forgotten about the Dark Alliance story, it'd be a good idea to start from scratch, as people will be able to pick the game up again without having to play the now-ancient 2 games before it. I believe as long as gamesas can make a good storyline and gameplay similar but improved upon, people would buy it the day of release.

Alright, I'm tired now, so I'll make a pro/con argument:

Pros:
- New consoles don't have many games at release, and releasing Dark Alliance at this time will give the game a better chance to be bought by many people, and older fans will hear about it easier.

- For some reason, I believe it will be easier to get all the rights if it's for a next gen console. Of course, I could be totally wrong.

- Dark Alliance could be very popular due to it's early release, causing it to grow in popularity once more.

- Next gen release means chance to have better gameplay, graphics, and more online play than the 360/PS3.

Cons:

- Game could be overlooked if too many big titles are release with a next gen console.

- Rights could be harder to obtain.

- People might only buy the game due to it being released with the console, but there will be no long term profit.

I'll make this better over time. I'll let you read over this for now.
