Radiation is good for you!

Post » Fri Jul 03, 2009 4:52 am

Join me in this self heating, thermal pool of green, slimy water... it's soothing and it feels like it's seeping right into my bones. Ahh yes, nothing like a nice dose of radioactive electrons to get your blood flowing 8-)

I am looking forward to the engaging commentary to come with each and every one of you!

/Salute!

Radiation could be good or bad depending on what kind of toon is made. If Ghouls are Player Character Rad would be helpful to give buff, restore HP etc. If it's a human then it would De-buff, hurt Hp etc.
Rad-out packs for humans, Rad -UP packs for Ghouls for example.

Rad poisoning could have visual, auditory effects. Screen goes grainy, green sickly yellow haze creeps onto screen the longer exposure is suffered. PiP Boy Geiger counter starts chirping and can turn into constant "grinding" sound indication massive rad exposure.

Excerpt from CBC newsite
Radiation sickness — known as acute radiation syndrome (ARS) — occurs after exposure to a large amount of radiation within a short period. Early symptoms can include skin irritation, nausea, vomiting, high fever, hair loss and burns to the skin. Other symptoms can include diarrhea, weakness, fatigue, loss of appetite, fainting, dehydration, inflammation of tissues, bleeding from the nose, mouth, gums or rectum, and anemia. People exposed to radiation will get ARS only if:

* The radiation dose was high.
* The radiation was penetrating, reaching internal organs.
* The person's entire body, or most of it, received the dose.
* The radiation was received in a short time, usually within minutes.

The first symptoms will start within minutes to days after exposure and may come in waves, with a seriously ill stage lasting from a few hours up to a few months. People with radiation poisoning will generally show skin damage within a few hours of exposure. This can include swelling, itching and a redness of the skin, similar to a sunburn.

lots of potential there for visual changes. Character actually gets rad burns on skin that show up on character, show bleeding from eye nose ear, show vomiting. And would de buff stats like strength, Endurance.

things like rad away, power armor, vehicles, special made anti rad suits could minimize or eliminate rad exposure dangers. MMO's... MMO's never change...

Oh really??? So all the precautionary measures I am taking during my work on a NPP are bullshit and just waste my time?
Tell it to a chernobyl disaster liquidators. They are dying slowly and do not know that really they are blessed by a radioactive electrons.

PS by the way, real exposure pool is glowing blue, not green. It is a secondary fluorescent activity from a reactor equipment dipped in it. Nobody know, who has fabricated a myth that radiation is glowing green. Excuse my bad English... I am a Russian bear, it's hard to type with claws.

The green glow comes not from Radiation but when the Radium, used in the initial radiation experiments of the mid 19th century, hit phosphor it would cause the electrons to jump to a high energy level and when they would be lowered the particles glowed with a green hue. Image
