How do you protect your assets?

You are gamesas. gamesas tells us they publish games for persons. I will be making an entire game by myself and hope to sell it for a decent profit. I expect enough profit to be able to take it slower on my next game .

I am troubled about the possibility people will accuse me of stealing their work. If they get a legal standing before me, then they could at least prevent me from using all my hard work.

Some of the only people I have had the fortune to know are thieving maniacs. They simply won't let anyone believe that I am gifted or skilled. They want you to believe I am totally hopeless and worthless.

These are very evil people. They would keep battering me and telling lies .

The above image speaks for itself. But these friends of mine are so hectic that I know once I push beyond even this stage, they will start to get scared. They will even take credit. i know it. i know they will do it.

how then in the long run can i not worry about these people ? i bet every one of them will break the law and i would have to go after them. but i don't know how and don't have the patience.

Can gamesas give me assurance that I, Prosper, will have a fighting chance of your community receiving my game? I don't want to be too bold yet, but I wouldn't put it past me to think you as a publisher may just earn the most profit in a long time from my game alone. This will help you with your current projects.

Please , can you help me? I am in a way a prodigy, but am not asking for you to judge my game. Just that you would have my back when i come to you to publish it.

Are you asking for legal advice, asking the community to buy your game, or a publishing contract? I don't quite understand.

Not sure what the picture shows either.

Sorry to hear about your friends.

Edit:

For legal advice: See a lawyer.

For buying your game: I (and I assume many others) will need to see more before giving a definite answer.

For publishing: http://gamesas.com/games/submission.php

Ianol,
This is not legal advice, only suggestions in how to possibly go about your business.

When working on projects only include those that
1) you trust will do the job
2) you need to aid you in doing the job
3) if you hire, sign an agreement about who owns the IP and copyright, and possibly includes a no-compete clause for several months upon leaving the job
4) are not friends. Never include friends in your work, it only leaves heartached and anger (OK, occasionally this is not true but the vast majority of time it is)
5) whom you trust. Only give out information that you have to and only to those that you can trust or sign a NDA
6) signed NDA playtestors, if you need such.

Document, document, and document some more.

If you plan on doing something for a living or fame, you must only include those that will acutally help you and protect you, ie. that you trust.

Not only am I not your lawyer, but I'm not even a lawyer to begin with.

I'd highly suggest you talk to an intellectual property rights lawyer. They can give you the help you need to protect your hard work.

I'm also the exactly wrong person to ask about submitting games to gamesas for publication and what rights we provide. I haven't seen the contracts we use and I'm not a lawyer.

You can use this web form:
