Things FO can LEARN from other MMO's

Hey guys, Big fan of the fallout universe!

So Ive been reading the posts all over this forum and something I feel that Developers miss sometimes arnt the good points of any one game but the bad ones. So for an example;

Age of Conan - GREAT Game, Killed by huge amount of bugs and performance/compatibility issues. This in turn caused population to die. Probably a Combination of too many Servers at launch and random Memory Leaks and Lag Spikes also took Funcom waaaay to long to fix the issues!

Vangaurd - Way before its time, When this badboy came out I dont think most PC's could even run it. It did have alot of compatibility issues as well, Fantastic game now, but is dead because of no population.

Eve - Too complicated @ intro, didn't immerse people into the eve universe, just gave some txt to read with no hot chick voice saying "Welcome Commander, If you look to the top right of the screen you will see the exit button.. Click that now". But in all honesty it didnt immerse people enough to get into it. (Dont shoot!)

One thing I would like to bring up as well is that say 1,000,000 people buy Fallout Online in the first week of launch.. Only around 40% of those gamers will stay, even less depending. Now Fallout Online already has me sold, don't get me wrong. But you have to remember that too many servers is a bad thing, If you remember age of conan at launch and 2 months after, thats a classic example. Then a 6 month wait for server mergers.

So lets recap;
1) Compatibility!Too many games these days are released without full compatibility.. Either ATi get flickering shadows or Nvidia does. I know gamesas rocks and will do thier best tho!

2) Performance! AoC for one, among a host of others, have very poor performance in regards to FPS or Partical effects. Please don't forget your 'fluffers' with ATi Cards and your 'ghouls' with Nvidia Cards!

3) Lag, Now im in Australia so I live with 300ms lag in all my games and thats using a Proxy!!!! On Aus Servers I get 20ms but American servers 300ms is average. Please don't forget your pal's down unda.

4) Be gamesas! We all Loved your Fallout titles! Immerse us like you have done and will do again!

5) Easy to use HUD and Menu's! Go have a look @ FFIV.. it is ... well.. svcky! It looks like it was an Xbox port or something, truly horrible.

And on a side note, Chris, If you could make mention of the Aussies in fallout that would be sweet, coz Im pretty sure we are still down here like 'WTF Mate?'

I know, eh. Their problem was that their game could also be played on ps3, so for me it feels like their GUI is for ps3 mainly and they thought, hey if ps3 can use it, so can pc users :P but damn their menus was annoying >_<

I just hope that gamesas puts pc users as a priority, at least when it comes to menus etc. Image

Don't force users to give credit card info for a reoccurring charge. I bought the game, if it says 30 free days, give it to me.

I don't have my credit card and lost it in my room or something. But to have gone through and applied WoW + WoW Crusade + Lich King and have no game time to show for it is just insulting.

Better yet if you force every player to be a part of your BATTLE.NET then let the freaking payment methods on file freaking work on your WoW website. I am so pissed that I can't just use the payment on file that i know works but not on the stupid separate WoW website. so stupid.

edit: the stupid blizzard store won't even work so i can't buy game time that way digitally. weird i bought the lich king last night so i could use the cataclsm

It's a game for us, a job for them ;) If they are going to keep on developing they need a steady stream of money, they won't get that from a one-time purchase and personally, I don't like micro-transactions. Image

I Prefer the monthly fee and Expansion payment plan to the Micro Transactions, I personally have spent about 4-6k$ over 5 years on crappy micro transaction games(about 10-20 diff games) i think are cool then end up hating a month later. Where I have spent a third of that on monthly fee games and stayed with them longer giving each game individual game more money in the long run.
