So in other words, random events?

*Imagines brotherhood of steel destroying enemies in random battles*

That would be sweet, at the very least random events, sometimes you need to spice it up a little bit. Image

I am interested in this idea as well. I would say that it would be best if such events had some sort of definite and noticable effect in the game. However besides changing cities to PC and NPC and back, this could be tedious and/or difficutl to implement. "What would your good do if evil didn't exist, and what would the earth look like if all the shadows disappeared?"

Lets just say its Brotherhood of steel in the red corner and the enclave in the blue, and they are fighting over a building of some sort. If the enclave wins, then the building (or town  ) is in the enclaves controll for lets say a month. Another idea is that the storyline moves in the direct of a confrontation between two factions and the members of the factions, gets to rumble :)

Well, if now the factions are playerbased, then maybe one faction will be overpowered and they will keep it forever :P and we cant have that

Well i was thinking of guilds in my profile, so instead of factions, its guilds! Plus eventually they would take it over. Maybe 6/12 months of control? Image

Just say it, you want player faction ownership *cough* like a certian Space and ship based game that won't be named *cough* as well as non-static faction wars. Both been done before, I see no point in hiding inspirations. No point in reinventing the wheel, but lots in redesigning it. Why do games studios have to fight and die? War, war never changes : (

Im guessing u are pointing at a certine game with an E in the beginning :| , just for the record i have only played wow and AO before, so im no hardcoe mmo-player, just saying it would be cool that playerbased factions, guilds or whatever had theese possibillitys, it would be awsome :D

Hmmm, player based events, 50 vs 50 (think they were more in "E^%*&^%^@#$^@%#). Also, 6 months of control and things like this, sound very, very familiar.
Problem is, in a certain game, it kind of screwed the market for a while; limited gear got pretty expensive. Now, after that, everything turned into marketing.
So, if you want something, add more details and try to think of all the involvements.

Regards!

but if the rumor is true, u will be able to perhaps build/uppgrade towns/fortresses but not how :|
then add there's possible diffrent fractions with perhaps more than 100 players, in the game and then add that "the event" most obviously wont be happening just one time.
conclusion?

War, war never changes

ps. even if I made a killing plain in front of my fort (mines, trapholes, trained deathclaws ;) )
my creative enemy just make something better than me (use stormladders as bridges over trapholes,
let-trained-bhrahmin-go-first-tactic-And- enjoy-that-they-learned-to-fly :D ) King of Swamp Castle: Please! This is supposed to be a happy occasion. Let's not bicker and argue over who killed who.

Im all up for pvp and pvpevents, be it over whatever just as long as it feels meaningful.
would be cool to fight over something where the ownership of that object means something for the whole zone, something good for the occupiers something bad for the rest.
If one faction is way stronger than other (if there are more than two Factions like ghoul be one mutant one normalss could make few factions) and has taken over the objectives. The others could join in a temporary alliance (as long as everyone can chat with everyone) and throw the stronger faction out. Then share the victory or break the alliance and start fighting each other till there is only one.
