Age of Player Character...

I'm just wondering if anyone knows what the likelihood of playing someone other than an advlt who never seems to age? Obviously we have seen children survive the nuclear fallout, albeit not necessarily well, but I think it would still be a neat way to truly bring out the richness of life in the wastes if there were some form of aging... whether through patch updates (in which everyone advances one age-stage [heh] older); it would be infrequent in this case, but could be more feasible on a large scale. Or just a day-to-day aging, a la Sims. Not that I'm comparing this franchise -- past, present, or future -- to the Sims, but that's the most relevant example I can think of.

Or there is, of course, no obligation to age at all. That is another option; you pick an age group and that's what your PC will embody for the duration of your game time with them. This would be assuming one can make alts and what have you.

What say you, interwebz?

i say unless it's the sims i think progressive aging wouldn't be that great of an idea, especially considering your character probably stays just as able bodied when they're old as they were when they were young. which kind of defeats the purpose of it,but then again i doubt a lot of people want to play a character that eventually becomes old and feeble. Well, it's a nice idea and all but I wouldn't want it on the "real" server, if there was a rpg server or something on the other hand, I'd might be a bit interested :P Image

It'd be nice if it was just a visual thing or if it opened up certain quests. It's kind of annoying that in FO1/2 you pick an age but it doesn't change the way you look at all or really affect anything that happens in the game.

Really?

Let's be honest how long are people going to play this game for... (assuming it gets off the groundeven)

Even set in the Fallout universe, I'd say most players aren't going to continue playing longer than a year and all up I the game will almost certainly be technologically outdated and commercially unviable after a ten year run, so only the long term roleplayers are likely to ever see the effects. And unless the gamesas wants screams of abuse, killing, weakening or changing those crazies' characters/split personalities as a result of old age won't end well. Why do games studios have to fight and die? War, war never changes : (
