Creation and Destruction

On the boards there has been a lot of talk about making your own economics. Essentially most people want to create stuff, but what about those who want to destroy? Should you (and your band of tribals/ raiders/ cannibals/ cultists/ soldiers of fortune/ evil robots) be able to destroy another player's hard built economic empire? If you can't, then won't there be terrible overgrowth of civilization? Essentially the entire game would be NCR-like if they didn't do something to stop growth.

What kind of anti-social player owned "shops" should be allowed? Just to be clear I am talking about automated NPC's that you have directed to do this.
Raiding? (having your "guards" sweep a large area, be hostile to everything, and take their stuff)
People Hunting? (hunters hunt people and sell their meat without saying what it is)
Super Mutant Reproducing? (capture people to infect with FEV)
Slaving? (capturing and selling people)
"Toll Booth"? (force everyone that passes to pay a toll, you don't provide any real service)
Drug Pushing? (force NPC's and maybe PC's to become addicted to you product)

If slaving is allowed, what kind of things should you be able to do with your slaves? All I want for Christmas is APA and a gauss rifle.

idk if id see slaves happening so much. b/c im sure as soon as it was mentioned and if it showed a white slaver with a black slave the idiots would be coming out of the wood work and screaming racist. just like when it was revealed that RE 5 would be set near africa and you played as chris redfield and all the "zombies" were black. I think the idea is interesting but if everyone started building these things, it would be unsustainable for servers to deal with it. I'd imagine some sort of pre-designated spots to build certain things but amongst them wouldn't be slavers. I think it'd be difficult to pull off and the demand would come from what exactly? Maybe a caravan company that gets contracts to do it from a faction but realistically, I don't see this happening at all.

I think bars, shops, drug havens/stores and even 'barber' shops (for those wanting to change their appereance) would be okay but I can't imagine slavers or raiders. Maybe at a bar you can put up rewards for certain PCs and NPCs. That could be cool and very wild west but yeah, slavers just asking for trouble. Image

See the slavers and raider address the sustainability issue. They destroy other players places. And each others. Without them the servers would be taxed. Its like an apex predator thinning out a herd. It would make a lot of players angry, bu it would be important to maintain the frontier style. All I want for Christmas is APA and a gauss rifle.

But who would be these slaves? Maybe preset scenes with them in as per showing of legion or something. But as a PC business, I don't think it'd work. Also, that level of economic conflict would be a nightmare for lower level characters. Caravan-based logisitics could be a simpler compromise. I.e. provide cover for trade or raid it. If they happen to be 'dealing in slaves'. So be it, but to have it as a complete facet unto itself seems a bit daunting. Also, what if PCs are caught in the raid? Ive notice there's no indication of PC deaths as per FAQ thus does one just become a slave? Seems worse than having a player die out-right!

I feel crafting, trading, protection and raiding would be viable, but slavery just isn't. If you enslave PCs, they get angry. You enslave NPCs, the lack of quests would bore PCs. Them destroying each other repeated just makes it sound like some sort of never-ending Battlefield Bad Company 2 match with Frostbite destruction happening EVERYWHERE. Not to mention, that alone would put you off doing it thus just not a good idea. I understand it maybe a key component to the storyline in some places but it should remain just that. Image

Where did this idea that the NCR is anything more than an area of relative peace between a bunch a towns (hence republic) in what is still a wasteland. The NCR army/security forces would most effective against threats in large groups or known areas. Raiders, bandits and dangerous wildlife will be curtailed, not eliminated between member towns, if history is not completely ignored.

The organisation into a large government would probably help water management, agriculture, manufacturing and civilisation in general but it would be no magic cure.

TL;DR Life in the NCR still svcks. Why do games studios have to fight and die? War, war never changes : (
