[Concept Art] 05 Character Sketches

So,

This one is from the bottom of the barrel, some of the very 1st sketches that I did on this project.
We wanted to see what other directions we could push the characters and start pulling them back from there.
None of these will be used, but I still wanted to show you guys what it all started with.

i like em! too bad some of them wont be in game, some of the space suit helmets are a bit much but i like the gas mask / filter designs. really like the scythe and wist blaster designs on the middle two (top row). hay, "OC" ..... i got something for ya right here! _|_ (^.^) _|_

That double scythe looks a bit silly (using that will only get yourself hurt).

Even though it's a very early concept art, it looks great, and actually shows the possible amount of costumization of clothes.

The third one looks like a space suit, are you hinting at something? ;) Image

Here's hoping for a Beatles-themed quest on V13.

I've gotta say I don't like the space suit ideas at all. The one on the far right at the top looks like its pushing into power armour territory, especially with the legs, but it doesn't match the existing power armour aesthetic.
The guys in the bottom row are a different story altogether though. The respirator looks very cool, and even though he has a pip boy he really looks like a raider to me. This is either a lucky raider (stumbled upon a vault-dweller's corpse) or a vault dweller gone bad.
As to the fact that this is some of the earliest work that was done on the project, I'm wondering why the emphasis on sealed suits/respirators? Filtering out the air has never been a problem that the survivors of the wastes have had to deal with in any of the previous fallout games. Perhaps this was just one of those ideas that came up in a brainstorming session and was rejected after the initial sketches were drawn?

That's a good clue, I actually hope the game takes place in Van Buren universe, it should be a part of the Fallout canon, imagine adding quests each month, making the game replayable for years to come! Image

This individual, over on the NMA boards, didn't like the concept art much. he said he would be willing to do Fallout concept art for free. Here's a link to his portfolio.

Well, it's great to see some people do things for free for the project, but the there's no game that has a very good concept art right from the beginning, this piece of concept art is standard to what the game is going to be. But hey, I hope you can help with the development of the game. Image

Nice...I think there should be few models from light to heavy...same as the concept from the gas mask to full body protection...only that scythe doesn't fit the picture... Its better to live 3 days as a Lion, then spend the rest of your life as a hyena!

the scythe could be farming for example instead of buying food growing it also the power in v13 should definitly differ for example the mark 3 series of power armor also something to goo further on could be more in depth versions of environmental power armor or environmental class in the bottom left character looks like he has almost a different type of pip-boy almost a newer modded pip boy also in game something to expand on could be the idea of an upgradeable pip boy for example repair could find unique items that you can add an upgrade like the motion sensor in fallout 2 but more things. the bottom row middle character definitly looks like a definite guard type character the top left last character the power armor seems more like a mechanical suit like a gundam type thing where the person can enter and exit possible vehicle. i would love being able to get power armor not right in the begining but like fallout 1 kind of in the middle but where it is the mos useful i really like where you guys are going with this but you should go farther more up and beyond with it also a hint for moving from continent to continent you could intagrate from fallout 1 the vertibird plans you gave to the brotherhood of steel. in another concept could be underground for example unique placed vault or bases.
Anyways enough of my rambling i cannot wait for this to come out, hopfully add user submitted mods that have gamesas apporval that would be very unique especially since something not everyone can think of maybe get some ideas to wrap your mind around different concepts.

Heh, actually, I love that aesthetic. Most games have entire world made up of athletic heroes, an option for characters who don't take their fitness cues from the rambo movies would be great.
As for the actual art, I love the double-edged scythe thingy. It would be a good shift, in my opinion, to have a variety of new weapons, especially melee weapons, that are a bit more creative than sword/fist/axe. I'd love to see a greater variety of 'weird' weapons, mixed with a bit of fallout humor... Spears made from a hydraulics system, chainsaws on sticks, and you could stick a taser on pretty much anything. A fallout RPG should have post-apocalyptic weapons from around the world!

I agree with the previous comment It would be definitely more interesting if there were more options of melee available. or if possible regular weapons that could be augmented or altered significantly. One more thing an its probley just me that thinks this but I would like my weapons to be able to be altered also in colour. ie if they could be resprayed that would be awesome well for me anyway.

Every thing is Bad ass except 1 and three , I just don't like the deap sea or space suit with mecanichal arm deal , not hatten it's just not Fallout 8-)
