In favor of a database wipe?

Post » Wed Oct 20, 2010 7:27 am

I should state clearly that I've absolutely no power to do anything remotely like this but, given the number of people who have issues logging into multiplayer, are losing multiplayer stats and the number of cheaters that are running around, who would actually be in favor of a full database wipe once the issues are fixed?

Looking at the issues with integrating gamesas/gamespy/(IGN?), it may also be a chance for all the forum account issues to be fixed, assuming they resolve the bugs prior to clearing everything. This might also give an opportunity for those who have bonus codes to actually put them to decent use instead of being out-leveled from the start.

I'm well aware that people have likely put in a fair number of hours, legitimately gaining levels but given the state of multiplayer at the moment...well, it's something to think about. If this was actually done with a number of balance changes (suggested in various other topics) would that also gain more favor?

Also I should note that single player records are entirely separate from multiplayer, thus single player records do not need to be considered here.

Discuss! Would you be in favor? Wouldn't you? Why?

Lol no. Why the hell should all my gameplay hours be wasted just because some other people are having problems? If the majority of people didn't think this thread too retarded to answer, you'd probably see that most people's response would be '**** that!'

Well if your opinion is that it's not worthwhile, then that's that.

Keeping the current stats would also mean that the hackers keep their hacked records, thus the food for thought.

I myself voted not unless with balance changes, but it's something to think about none the less.

I would be in favor of a wipe, simply because the current set of leaderboards and multiplayer progress has been tainted by technical issues and outside interference.

Why should the thousands of players having no problems have their hours of progress erased just because you are prone to user error?

Who gives a **** about leaderboards seriously? You want to wipe THOUSANDS of players records for the sake of resetting a few hackers which will continue to hack afterwards and do the same thing again. OP has to be a bad troll.

If it were user error, I'd certainly own up to that fact. However, considering that I followed the directions set forth by Crytek and EA directly with regards to opening a gamesas account to play in the Demo (and subsequently the retail version), it's certainly not my fault that the database is in some way caught.

No, you assume far too much, Hedgehog8.

I agree that it would be most unfair
To wipe out the stats for the gamers who have been lucky enough to play from the off, why should they lose out that would be an insult to them, and should not be considered in any way shape or form.
However I am one of the unlucky ones that has only just managed to get into a server, and play a full game, and still as yet, I havnt even come close to redeeming my L/E bonus.
Clearly I was outranked and outkitted, and well and truly owned in that game, but this could not be avoided, what say if you bought the game a few months on, the situation would be the same, you at rank one taking on the world, yes? would you then ask for their stats to be reset?

When i do get ingame I will do all that I can to counter the situation, this is gaming at the rough end, and you can still with skill, climb through the ranks, and if anything become a better gamer for it. as a seeming Noob against all the odds getting up the levels can be a rewarding challenge not to be sniffed at.

I didnt vote at all as i find this an insult to the gamers who have worked hard for thier rank and stats,

The hackers records don't matter, what matters is that hackers shouldn't be able to see them due to not being able to log in.

"Worked hard for their rank and stats"? Are you kidding me? Many people are complaining about progress not even saving to begin with, your first game after sorting through the login problems are likely to be the receiving end of a wonderful cheating moron.

Why should my personal stats suffer because of that once I am able to have access?

naahhhh. You just wait til the thing is reasonably secure, and all of those tainted records will bubble obviously to the top (uhh, sort by kills). Then, validate those users/records and delete em. Send a "please confirm your awesomeness" email if you must be nice about it. You cant force everyone to replay as level 1.

I sure agree about balance issues, but thats just the normal ebb 'n flow of MP gaming

Exactly. Its a pointless thread. The people voting yes are just the ones who cant play and dont want others to be higher ranks than them. Its sad jealousy and even sadder they care about the ranks of hackers.

Its to late for a wipe. On UK release date would of been the last chance they would have but now they will just piss off the majority of players.
