To Everyone biching about Punkbuster & Getting Crytek on it

Do you guys not remember how worthless Punkbuster was on Crysis wars and Crysis?

Its like there was no anti-cheat system at all. I would go onto a server and have 5 guys run laps between spawn and my spawn be on the highest mountain on Mesa and snipe with pistols. PB was worthless.

In fact I've been playing Crysis 2. IDK what they did but in NA servers I see less hackers than when I first started playing. Maybe its just the time that I play but I haven't seen a hacker yet.
Maybe they should use vac or something different but PB is sooo worthless. Yeah it works on BC2 but unless we have admin rights to our OWN servers we won't be able to utilize PB to our extent, let alone its own anti-cheat.

Agreed, maybe I've gotten lucky as well but as of now I've played for a bit and only ran into a single cheater. This is for european servers btw. It has definitely been a much smoother gaming experience than before.

As for admin rights; if Crytek wants the gamers to stick around and form a community we definitely need some more tools to administrate servers, add friends, check server gameMode-rotations etc.

But again, definitely a step in the right direction. Hopefully I wasn't marginally lucky and this is the case for most players right now. Keep em updates comin Crytek =)

This again...you don't understand how PunkBuster works so stop biching about it.

I'm talking about actual hackers in this case, not CVAR mismatches.

I love how people think PunkBuster and VAC are inefficient when they don't fully understand how either one works.

They detect hacks silently so Valve/EvenBalance can collect data from them, and implement fixes at later dates. As someone stated correctly, bans come in waves every X months. Silent detection is far superior for the reason stated above, not flashing and screaming in your face does not mean it doesn't work.

I used to be an admin for a Battlefield 2 server running Punkbuster, PB does a lot more for server admins. It takes screenshots of the players screen so you can see whats going on. It's incredible how many paid-for hacks don't even blank out the players screen.
