Melee in multiplayer a massive waste of time?

Post » Sun Oct 24, 2010 12:52 pm

I'm loving the rest of the game so far i actually think it's really good, bar the few cheaters i've come across ofcourse.

But one thing that really annoys me is the fact melee is so pathetically weak, it seems like sometimes you have to hit someone 3 times when they don't have maximum armor on just to kill them where as just a few bullets from them kills you.

I've had multiple accounts where i've power slided into someone punched them twice only to find they spray a bullet or two into my face and i die. With the way it is currently their's no reason to even have it in the game apart from the odd stealth assassination you get once in a blue moon.

It feels as though if you take the risk to get close enough to someone to melee them they should die in a single hit, 2 if they have maximum armor activated.

Anyone else feel the same?

No, it works great. You have a chance to defend yourself now in melee situations, and still have the ability to make a last ditch attempt at a kill when you run out of ammo etc. (strafing around the guy shooting at you while throwing 2 melee attacks)

Btw, it only takes 3 hits if you were in stealth when you started melee attacking. The only melee attack you can do properly in stealth is assassination.

Melee is totally great. i luv it. 2 hits and you are death. and if not....just beat em up a few more times.
place a shortcut on your mouse and rock.
I play with Razor Naga. i am right now using 7 mouse keys to play.

I've got a razer mamba myself so i've got melee on button 4 so i can start beating on people as fast as possible.
I'll see how i feel about melee trying not to use it too much, i love the power slide when you sprint so i get a bit addicted to trying to slide in a beat on people who aren't looking.

I prefer it as it is. Not too strong, not too weak. Would feel better if the FoV wasn't so poor though.

I think the melee is just right however it seems to be a bit laggy since the release, often I'll get in close and hit the melee button yet nothing happens. I have my melee key assigned to my mouse.

I think melee works fine, I often use a couple of shots and than just finish enemy off with a hit.

Melee is one of the most balanced aspects in this game the best ive seen in any FPS game yet. Same applies to the Cloak assassination.

One hit kill melee is broken and overpowered, the first 360 demo proved that.

Melee is perfect as is. In Pro mode its one hit kill, which makes sense because weapons are more deadly. Try Pro mode..

I dont like how when you melee people they usually end up behind you shooting in the back... but that's more down to the somewhat strict limitations on what would end up as a Stealth Kill from behind. The damage however is all good. 2 hits in all situations makes sense against the armour abilities and current damage model.

I think 3 hits are too much but 1 hit to little. 2 Hits are perfect.

I think this is better then a certain kill knife attack. As far as realism goes anyway. Besides, you can charge up your melee attacks to one-shot people at the expensive of all your suit energy. You just don't gotta miss ;P

Check out knife attack in black ops, omg, kills with one hit and fast, also its auto-aiming and pushes you to your target if needed. it makes melee kills SO imbalanced. i ve seen guys using knife as a primary weapon >.<
What I like is a bad company 2 melee. it kills with one hit, but slow and requires accuracy. its hard, but rewards you with dogtag of fragged player. motivates and balanced

As I noticed two hits are enough to kill enemy without armor, i like that hits are pretty fast and you always got a chance to kill even if missed. what I wanna see is a slow and strong strike that kills full-health armored guy with a single hit, like in single player.
nanosuit makes its owner extra strong, right? XD

BC2 melee does not require accuracy. The auto aim is equally broken; I've been pulled round corners by it before, and one guy on the forums said he was pulled up in the air when it locked onto someone in a building, and then dropped to his death.

it could be caused by internet connection problem. or maybe a hitbox glitch, it's not rare
i tryed to say that bc2 melee attack is more difficult than black ops ultymate knife attack and it makes balance better.

melee is fine as it is and you can still fire while sliding, try shooting an enemy while sliding, if you arent lag bound and land all your shots if the enemy player doesnt die first when you slide into him its usually a one hit melee for me, and damn if it isnt a satisfying way to murder your opponent.

I have been in a few MP fights and have one over 1/2. One of two shots does it. It is already enough 'lethal'.
