Why Does high Ping give an advantage?

I often play on servers where my ping is less than 20 and there will be several people running at 300 or worse and they always see me (and everyone else) before I see them. I look at the kill cam and it shows me standing with 10 feet of them shooting at empty space next to them (by at least a couple of feet) while they are trained on me the whole time and hitting me dead on. These are cases where I had my sights zeroed in on them.

I experimented by joining a high ping server and I saw a guy frozen on the map. I simply WALKED up to him and meleed him successfully. He text pvssyd WTF? because obviously we weren't even in the same building when I meleed him!

Why is it lower ping gives such a disadvantage? And it's not just this game either.

It has to do with how long it takes for data to get to your computer to update his real position, in other words he is always visible at a place that his character is not really at because of the lag (delay), so everything is delayed. does that make any sense.

I've noticed this as well. Shooting at people that I had dead to rights but they somehow get me. And then in the kill cam it shows that I was shooting way off to left of them. Frustrating.

The same thing is happening in most of the ported games now. This is why I don't play MW2 anymore. When the lag is in your favour it is like you are invinsable but when it is someone else you can't seem to kill them because they have killed you before you see them.
