Proximity Alarm

Is this like some big joke everyone is playing only on me? I have used it in both xbox demo pc demo and full versions and I cannot tell WTF its doing. Anyone else agree with me?

The Proximity Alarm gives off an electronic bleeping/chirping sound that gets faster the closer an enemy player gets to you.

funny that ive never heard it seeing as I have a 7.1 surround sound system. They should make it louder or have a visual component.

To me the proximity alarm is as obnoxious as a buddy watching you play and say repeatedly: you gonna die... you gonna die. YOU GONNA DIE MAN WHAT ARE YOU DOING!

proxy alarm variant: something's close but I dunno! it's getting closer... closerrrr... HE'S CLOSE! HEEEEE'S REALLLY CLOSE!!

For both of the cases my mind begs me to yell "MAN CUT IT OUT YOU'RE DISTRACTING ME!"

I just use the proximity alarm as a visual alert.

You know the vertical and horizontal white bars on your map? They turn red when an enemy approaches. It helps a lot.

if you dont have it upgraded at all, all you get is the red bar, then after the first upgrade you get a quiet beep then after the last upgrade you get a louder beep and you still keep the red bar, i dont play with out, in the demo for 360 it was just a beeb and was way more affective

I've heard it. I play on Xbox - have base level, can see the bar and hear the noise if it's quiet. The upgraded levels make the sound higher/louder/more noticeable. by quiet I mean no noise but footsteps. Even the "nanosuit armour" voice is louder.
