So where are my Stereoscopic 3D options?

Post » Wed Nov 10, 2010 4:43 am

Well I've been waiting patiently for about a week for a reply to a help message I sent to Crytek from this site about my s-3D options being greyed out, and still haven't got a reply. The problem seems to be common for anyone with an ATI card. If you have an ATI card (particularly an older one like the HD4xxx series) can you check to see if you have any stereo 3D options? I'm sick of this, and am almost at the stage of asking for a refund.

add this to your system.cfg file:

r_StereoSupportAMD=1

It should enable the 3d options. Officially, it is only the 5xxx and up that support HD3D but I think that may just be their brand name for the HDMI 1.4 support on those cards.

Well I'd just like to say that if it is not available for cards older than the 5xxx series, then they should ADVERTISE it as such. Nowhere does it say that 3D is only supported for certain cards.

Also, because it uses its own 3D rendering technique it shouldn't matter what card you own. And I believe there is a side-by-side 3D option in there too, which would run against the argument that you need the card to be able to pack it into 3D format or whatever.

Thanks for the tip though, bobduder. I'll try that.

Thanks bobduder!! It worked!!!

So WTF Crytek? Now I can't play it until I get home to my 3D TV because there is no anaglyph mode? Your very own website claims that the Cryengine 3 supports anaglyph yet Crysis 2 doesn't? Also this same page says that, and I quote: "CryENGINE 3 supports all industry standard output formats – meaning there is no requirement for bespoke hardware or top of the range displays to benefit from S-3D in games."

You need to have third party software kiddo. You're graphics card CAN NOT handle 3D support. Lucky for me, I upgraded to a 6970 just in time for Crysis 2 :)

Check to see if you can upgrade soon

Why the hell would you want to ruin the game by playing it in anaglyph 3D? Proper stereoscopic 3D, fair enough but the game will look crap using anaglyph.

SilentPhenomed, I don't need 3rd party software (for this game), nor do I need to upgrade my video card, as illustrated by the fact that adding r_StereoSupportAMD=1 to my system.cfg file activated the 3D options. But you have my congratulations on upgrading to a 6970 so you can play a game that a six year old xbox 360 can handle.

Newt182, some people (myself included obviously) don't find anaglyph that bad an alternative. It certainly doesn't look crap, it still has amazing depth, it's just that the colour is off. I'm colourblind, so maybe that helps in that I don't notice the colour change as much. It's good for when I'm on my laptop away from my 3D TV. I played through most of Arkham Asylum in anaglyph and really enjoyed it. I do have to take breaks more often though as it tires my eyes more easily.
