"Still, MS haven't developed a PC game in forever."

Actually, wrong. Microsoft Flight's coming out 2012. Lionhead's Fable 3 has a confirmed PC release date of May 17th and sys requirements/gameplay vids have been going up lately, they look great. New Age of Empires Online game is currently being beta-tested.

Microsoft haven't forgotten PC at all. Granted, they've diminished in recent years compared to their own on XB360. But they spend millions on making the PC an enticing place to game, they've spent years developing their GFW-Live online platform which, imo, isn't too bad it at least unifies XB360 and PC users in terms of community.

They patched the PC demo, too, genius.

This is the worst thread on the entire internet.

^This.

Also, maybe you were too busy frothing to notice, but I think I heard once somewhere that Microsoft makes one of the PC operating systems too. I guess you're probably playing Crysis on your Mac like most of the PC gaming crowd, but I seem to remember Microsoft used to be a big player in PC gaming before Apple Windows 7 and Sony DirectX APIs became the norm.

Actually (speaking now to those people who have higher cognitive processes, not the OP), isn't the word on the street that Microsoft is putting the bulk of their energy into Windows 8's gaming cred?

First things first, the only word I heard so far is that Windows 8, whenever it comes out and I hope not too soon, will incorporate some unspecified 3D features. I heard nothing about games or a third version of Directx coming out when most developers still don't know how to use versions 10 and 11 and the correspondent hardware.
If what you say has a glimpse of truth, then the Micro guys are at least "confused" about what to do with PCs today.
I understand that Windows Vista was wiped out quickly because it's a bad OS overall (sorry, users, but it's true) and a fiasco as far as sales go. I also understand the quick need for directx 11 because version 10 can't take full advantage from modern hardware, has optimization issues and developers themselves asked for a new version. With that said, I don't understand what credibility they can get in focusing on something different when Windows 7 finally works like a real OS, it relies on still evolving hardware and it's not yet accepted by a vast amount of users (this forums prove it. If you guys defend 10 years old Directx 9 so eagerly, I can only assume you're still using Windows XP). If Windows 8 comes out next year, it will be the third OS released within 5 years and to me it sounds greedy and foolish.
Microsoft still cares about PC gaming... Really? Fable 3 is the first PC game coming out after four years of nothing.
Those like me who were stupid enough to buy and play Gears of War PC ended their experience with a permanent "to be continued" because after that Epic and Microsoft kindly told us to F*** ourselves. Finally, do I really need to talk about Alan Wake?

OOOps, I realized I was off topic after all. I don't think EA has a deal with Microsoft because EA only cares about itself and almost none of their PC games use GFWL.
However, Crysis 2 IS a console port just like the PC version of Darksiders and other games which didn't receive such a royal treatment from reviewers and reporters worldwide. To me, the following is a good question: why is everyone (especially reviewers and reporters) defending so much a game which has flaws and didn't fulfilled developer's promises? It's not as crappy as some too angry users say: it is a good, though unoriginal shooter, but it's not worth more than a 7-7.5.
That's what p****d me off in the first place: excessive reviews with ridiculous sentences. For example, Gamespot said Crysis 2 PC looks better than its console counterparts if you look closely at small details and, by the way, it has the "general benefits" all PC games have with respect to console games. Ok, but why is this the first time you have to explicitely point that out?
IGN gave C2 an exaggerated 9 telling us that the game has enormous levels with a high degree of free roaming. Enthusiast users, do you really agree with this?
Finally, Eurogamer featured a more realistic review, but then they put on these comparative videos which should convince us the PC version looks better. To me, there's no difference with the PS3 and the F-Box is really not that far behind (just some minor textures which look a bit more blurry, but heck, it's an almost 6 years old console!)

Well, I am not surprised if crysis 2 is a 360 port, because of all the points told in the previous pages, since this gen is so biased towards the 360.

The problem is that it's easier to port a PS3 port to a 360 then a 360 port to the PS3. 360 port to PS3 is so **** it's like the unwanted, crippled, retarded, twin child.

I just don't think it's fair to pull Microsoft into this, they're guilty of a lot of things, but sabotage of this game is certainly not one of them. The demo for PC Crysis 2 was actually superior to X360 demo. It was in fact patched. Twice. Crysis still care about PC, they're just confused in their allignment right now. I think they bit off more than they could chew going multiplatform so fast. They should have gone PC+PS3. Or PC+360. Going to all 3, after years of working on just one platform, shows and it shows badly how they weren't ready.

Well right, Microsoft own the publishing rights to a game, so they only want to market it on the platform they own? Last time i checked, Heavy Rain by Quantic Dream stayed PS3 exclusive because Sony paid them a bunch of money to ensure that, unlike Farenheit, it didn't even make it to PC, with all references to PhysX and PC support promptly being removed after Sony did so. Hrrm. Clearly this isn't something all parties are arguably liable to get involved in eh? Hehe.

360 is the 3rd most popular console now. MS focus on it is bound to shrink as time goes on. It's only a matter of time before MS follow Goldman Sachs advice and spin off X Box into a separate company, consoles are a money pit anyway for Hardware manufacturers.

I wish. http://www.vgchartz.com/home.php 360 did extremely well last year, with XBL member exceeding 20 Million long ago, and revenues from it being insanely high every quarter.

There are definitely some days i wish MS would just have continued on with PC, forgetting about consoles altogether.

I was never seeking to disprove your statement I was seeking to prove my own which you called into question.

You are infereing you disagree with 1 of my statements yes? By saying "I wish" you are saying you wish I was right therefore I am wrong yes?

Well then which part do you disagree with

If it's this
"360 is the 3rd most popular console now." Then this http://scrawlfx.com/2011/03/playstation-3-passes-xbox-360-worldwide supports my statement anybody can tell that from the url.

Or if it's this
"MS focus on it is bound to shrink as time goes on." Well then I didn't anticipate somebody thinking a console would never become obsolete. Let me tell you MS focus on 360 will shrink just the same as the manufacturers focus shrank with every other previous generation of consoles. And I shouldn't need anything more to support that statement.

PS: Revenues might be insanely high to you but they are tiny for MS. So once more...

"The numbers make it all pretty clear: Microsoft’s Windows division is valued at $107 billion; its business division at $99 billion; and its servers at $43 billion.

Meanwhile, the entertainment and devices division sits at a mere $3.6 billion."

So they should focus on the real business to be done and spin off X-Box just as Goldman Sachs advised.

The only reason we have X Box is that Bill Gates thought it would become the hub of your home and control your life, it's clear this isn't going to ever happen now and that the PC remains better placed to evolve into that space, not to mention the fact that even if it were to happen it basically would make the x box a pc anyway.
