I had a realization while playing the SP campaign, early on. This is the second game where I've played a trans-human, nanotech ubermensch fighting in Battery Park and Castle Clinton, with a damaged Statue of Liberty in the distance. And this is the third game I've played featuring a war-torn, plague-rauaging Manhattan. I don't even know how many games I've played/movies I've seen/books I've read where NYC is the centre of the apocalypse, but it feels like loads.

I've been to NYC exactly once, and I think I might actually know more about what it looks like from appearances in fiction than I do from my own memory. It's not just a post-9/11 thing either, since about half the examples I can think of are older (Deus Ex for instance is from 2000).

Anyone else notice this/got other examples of this? I can't be the only one.
