How does crysis 2 tie in with 1

I played 3/4 of the way through 1. I stopped in the alien ship. I was very frustrated being in zero gravity and I couldn't hit the alien. I got the gist of the story.

How does crysis 2 story tie into crysis 1.

It ties in like this.

Console shooter games started selling in the billions of $ per year. They realized their first game was too demanding to be able to port it over to the ancient Xbox tech. So in order to fix this, they needed to re-create a new crysis game that was linear and enclosed and simplified enough to fit in it's pathetic memory constraints.

That's about the extent of the tie-in from what I can gather.

This guy named Hargreave designed Nanosuit 1 and 2, and sent Raptor Team to Lingshan for the evac of the architects, even though that was just a cover story and he knew that they would find aliens there. That was just him testing the water. He wanted to see how the Nanosuit tech would work against the Ceph at the islands. Why? Because 100 years ago he did his own research and exploration on the Ceph and found that the Ceph would reawaken from Cryostasis and reclaim Earth which was rightfully their planet. And the only way to stop them is some sort of supersoldier tech...which was seen being tested in C1. When Prophet found out that Hargreave knew more than he said he got pissed and left, since he could not handle the fact that Hargreave planned this all out and the "test" at Lingshan could have killed all his men and they were turned into "Dead Men Walking". but by that time Prophet had already been to the center of the mountain at Lingshan and had discovered the secret to defeating the Ceph, but he was too demoralized to continue to he gave his suit to Alcatraz. He killed himself because he needed to stop the symbiosis with Nanosuit 1. And now Alcatraz is here, kicking ass, trying to find the "secret" Prophet found so he can defeat the Ceph.

Hargreave is still alive because he got Tech from the Ceph that made him immortal. He was put inside this tube thing and what you see on the screen is a "fake" image of Hargreave.

Basically Prophet shows up and gives you a suit. Then you kill aliens with the same name, but that don't look the same at all (or fly).

Essentially, they throw out everything from the first story that isn't a black guy or the name "Ceph".
