Crysis 2 How important is Alcatraz?

Post » Thu Nov 11, 2010 3:33 pm

Crysis 2, is a fascinating and entertaining game.

The Nanosuit is the most important part of the game that drives Crysis gamplay, but what about the guy wearing the suit? going deeper into the story.
"Spoiler Alert"
How important is the individual? consider if Alcatraz dies, like Major Laurence Barnet AKA Prothet
the suit transfers the legacy into the next individual which makes the Nanosuit unique.
however would you like to see Alcatraz become a lasting character more like Master Chief or Commander Shepard, to be a legend to continue the story or have the suit carry on the story through different people?

Please post your thoughts?

Personally, I didn't see any importance. It could have been any dude that was there, and no one would have cared.

Alcatraz is here, so there is no changing that. Crytek, in all their righteous glory, thought that a mute corpse would be a better choice compared to bringing the first game's main protagonist back, who actually had some personality.

Hell, Nomad is probably gonna be dead within the first 5 pages of the comic coming out this summer.

They need to bring Back Nomad, yes I know that Alcatraz is technicly more imporant since he is wearing the only known Nanosuit 2 and he is fused with Prophet, but I honestly think Nomad needs to return at least as a side character, Psycho aswell. Sham that it was hinted everywhere that they were killed.

It svcks that you could only vote for one option because I want both Nomad and Psycho back. And Helena too, and she's not even an option up there.

And Alcatraz was not important at all. He is just an empty vessel through which the player experiences the campaign, just like Gordon Freeman.

Basically, if this game wasn't Crysis 2 the story would have been recieved much better, but that's the risk you take when you do a radical change to a story for a game that is supposed to be a sequel.

Alcatraz is just a Gordon Freeman knockoff. I want Psycho! He's funny, awesome, and he's British you muppet!

Though it would be cool if all the characters returned for a final showdown against the Ceph. Nomad with his TAC launcher, Psycho with his PAX gun, Alcatraz/Prophect with his MOAC, and Helena with her anti-alien signal!

There is an interesting theory to what happened to the main characters of the first game :P

Psycho, Nomad, and Helena were killed by an infection alrite. It was an infection of entitled COD loving console fanboys who didn't want to be left out plot-wise because they were too lazy/ignorant to get good PC and Crysis 1. Nomad fought back by saying "we have to resolve plot holes." But the fanboys just continued there zombified ranting "Me no want lean" "What is DX11? me scared of it" "No prone, more like Halo" "Me want gamepad and 540p rendered graphics!" "Gamebreaking killstreaks, MOAR GAMEBREAKING KILLSTREAKS!!!!!" "BRAINS!!! We have no...BRAINS!!!". They slowly infected them and they decided, their minds destroyed by the infection, that they must abrubtly dissappear from the Crysis storyline to appease 12 year olds and college frat boys who play consoles.
