Metacrtic score of 87

Post » Thu Nov 11, 2010 1:25 pm

Right, so Crysis 2 currently has a metacritic score of 87. Fine. Granted I don't know what the game is actually like as I haven't been able to play it due to the Multi GPU problems. Which leads me to my question:

What would that score have been if the PC reviewers had not tested versions before the 1.1 patch?

As far as I can tell that's where the problems began. Reviewers tend to have bestial gaming rigs, so presumably they have multi GPU set ups. I feel Crytek (and EA) got away with avoiding some seriously widespread (more so than already) negative press.

Even with the amount of setbacks this game has atm, there is still a lot of potential.

just a heads up Metacritic does not give scores. they average the scores of all the game rating companies.

yeh, aware that metacritic is just that a "meta"critic. Not all reviews are done on console version, in fact metacritic has 3 aggregate reviews for Crysis 2. One for Xbox, Ps3 and PC.
interesting the Xbox one is a single point below PC and PS3

i always look at the user score anyways because i dont have to worry about EA paying for a good review. and by the looks of it the PC version got a 6.6 out of 10.

They aimed 90+ score.
That's what they get for releasing unfinished game way too soon.

Same thing happened to Shattered Horizon, with patches and lots of new contents, the game ended up with 4 month of post release developpement to a nice game really worth its price, they even recently added single player and AI.
Problem : reviewers NEVER re-review games and take into account additional content, patches ect...

I think Crytek and EA missed that part. The game failed to reach the target score, and it's done forever no matter what they do now.
I think we, pc gamers, could wait another couple of months or so, and get that 95 rated game we all expected.

Granted I don't know what the game is actually like as I haven't been able to play it due to the Multi GPU problems.

I wouldn't want to restate the obvious but have you tried renaming the Crysis2.exe file in FEAR.exe? (just as you see it here, upper case) I was stuck like you, and tried everything you can think of. I usually got either smooth frame rates and bad flickering or no flickering but very low fps and a stuttering gaming experience. After I tried this simple file renaming -- earlier I did try but in lower case which didn't work -- now I can enjoy the game. So, even if this reply is off topic, just in case, give it a try.

Peace

I renamed it to Crysis.exe and it worked fine afterwards.

User score is infested by Crysis fanboys 0 to 4 points scores. Surely game is worth more than 0 points. I gave it 8 on its current state.

Am using Steam so no dice on that. Plus whilst it may make it playable, you are in fact hamstringing your PC as that is not optimized. May work, but not as well as it *should*

I thought the single player's cutscenes and story were really great. Multiplayer is also fun on the PC.

I'm not sure if I'm one of the lucky few but I have not had so much problems enjoying this game.
Yeah I see one or two hackers once in a while, but its not so much "everywhere" as everyone says.

I give this game 9/10.

I give it a zero.

Until I can actually play it that is.

So far I'm not impressed.

Incorrect. I played both the demo and the final version for quite a while before I renamed the executable. Had the exact same performance both before and after renaming. A performance which is on level with what my card is capable of.
