So uh, Crytek it's now Sunday, where is the update?

About the editor:

Don't worry, you'll get it, but maybe not in the form you think. That doesn't mean it's a bad thing. It's already known that Crytek is developing a development kit to compete with the now free-to-license till about $50,000 of profit UDK. And now the editor isn't out on release yet? It's because the editor is no longer the Crysis 2 editor. It's essentially the Crytek Development Kit. They aren't going to release the first version of that until it's good and ready, regardless of Crysis 2's release. But when it does come out, forget about modding Crysis 2 (which you'll be able to do as well, obviously), you'll have full access to the game engine to create your own games, and sell them if you wish.

If they release a Crysis 2 specific editor at all, it'll be like what happened with Unreal -- they release an editor which is essentially a re-purposed version of the Development Kit, and then they also released the kit down the line as well. In either case, you should be more excited about the Crytek Development Kit being available to you soon. It's much more than just an editor.

For one Crytek is not a company to release a patch if it is not stable.

Honestly - I'd prefer they would be a company not releasing a game that is not stable.

And with even the most basic QA in place, this game would have never ever gone "gold" in the current form.

I really don't have any other explanation for the current situation than the complete lack of QA (or maybe a bad contract from EA pressing them to release at a given date in whatever state the game may be in at that point in time)

It takes time to patch software properly. A well tested patch would take 1-2 weeks or more in just quality assurance. By the looks of the state of the game out of the box, we can obviously dream about well tested, but even minimal QA should take several days. This of course does not excuse Crytek releasing a game with more bugs than a lot of public betas. Game was probably 2-3 months away from being release ready when they decided to start pressing discs and 1-2 months rushed when they released first patch.

Who said it's on sunday? It's still the weekend. Patch was done, but something went wrong. Released for a bit on Steam then immediately reversed. Wait you impatient ****.

We have been patient since the beta.
This game was delayed for several months to fix these stupid kind of bugs so with that in mind I think we should have every right to expect a polished game.
We never got any details on DRM that was implemented, cheat protection, editing kits or anything else untill after release.
There is a court order demanding EA to announce when SecuROM is used in the games they publish and yet again they have failed to account for two recent releases which held this malicious software.
Shareholders might be important to businesses but it's the stakeholders who should be the ones reining in the details and being the ones who have influence on decisions because if it weren't for stakeholders there would be no business to thrive upon.

There was a beta? I know there was a very unstable and ugly leak which was 2 month old at the time it leaked... But a beta?

There was a closed beta at the end of last year for the Xbox which was supposed to identify these kinds of problems.

Ahhh... OK... But XBox is not PC... So the PC version has bugs that might not be there for the XBox version...
Nevertheless, I also wondered when the patch will finally come... But then I read the post by Cry-Adam again:

We've been working hard to resolve as many of the post-launch issues as possible including some improvements to our game security. These updates will be made available via automatic-download later this week.

The security updates were released "late" last week... And "These updates" might just referring to the security updates...
