Did no one else buy this game for the Story?

Am I the only one who bought Crysis 2 purely for the story mode? I dont like its multiplayer at all, im not saying im a multiplayer hater, I play a number of games online (Modern Warfare 2, Black Ops, BF: Bad Company 2, Medal of Honor and Homefront) but I just dont enjoy Crysis 2, all it seems to be is run around cloaked, see an enemy, uncloak and shoot. If the multiplayer had no nanosuit i'd probably like it. I bought the game for the story, which is surely the main thing about this game? I would have thought to anyway.

So, I just got finished playing the story mode, and I loved it! The graphics, the story, the gameplay, its definitely going to get a replay at some point. I love the scale of it, how you actual feel like your in this huge wrecked city, I love looking up at the skyscraqers and marvelling at how nice it looks and how well it plays. I just wish there had been a final boss to fight, it wasnt the grand finale id hoped for.

Downsides: AI is sometimes really stupid (at one point I shot a load of army guys are one was just standing there drinking whilst I was doing it) and I know up close a lot of the textures dont look as sharp as they did in the original Crysis, but really does it matter? Personally id rather just actually play the game than stand around staring at rocks/walls to see the texture quality. Im able to play the game at almost constant 60fps on extreme settings compared to the originals 30/40 so for me its a sacrifice I can live with.

Overall id say Crysis 2 is an incredible game, certainly better than the original gameplay wise. Cant wait for number 3.

story is average, after fahrenheit and heavy rain it's just common shoot-em-all-and-watch-cool-cutscenes

The story is the only reason I even cared. I wanted a god damn ending for my god damn cliffhanger.

I got buttsecksed instead.

I bought it mainly for single player as well. Story was excellent but that's expectable considering two top-notch sci-fi writers were hired to write the story and since Cevat Yerli does a great job of directing his games.

The multiplayer just happens to be surprisingly fun and I love it. Better than **** call of duty for sure. Right now, I prefer Crysis 2's multiplayer over Bad Company 2.

The story isn't really anything special tbh. It's funny that the writer would hate Halo, because Halo is lightyears ahead of his feeble scribblings in nearly every aspect of the story.

There is MP without the suit modes. It's called Classic! Wasn't able to find any populated servers last night though :( Anyway, that mode feels like a real FPS that requires tactics. In normal mode there's no cover whatsoever. Every spot is exposed some way some how and half the time I uncloak an enemy spawns behind me! Still fun, aside from the cheaters who came back strong this morning.

BTW, the voices in MP sound a lot like some of the characters in Ventrue Bros. Could have sworn that was Patrick Walburton doing the VO! Also heard Henchman 21 and one or two other voices from that show. Tried really hard to find who did all the voice acting in this game and it seems to be hidden from the public. Anyone got a source?

I think you mean "Single Player" and not "Story"?

I did myself. I finished the sp today and think it was amazing.

Single player, story, what does it matter? It is the story mode, as far as im aware teh multiplayer doesnt have a story.

I was interested in the story until i realized it doesnt pick up where the 1st left off. Then i lost all interest in the SP and switched to MP.

I really enjoyed the single player, and love the multiplayer, although some of the errors I get can be a downer but hopefully will be fixed soon.

Personally I didn't see the end coming at all, I sort of guessed that so and so would be involved but not like that, good ending.

The story was kinda average in the first game to be honest, so I didn't expect a massive improvement for the second game. Still, I've not played the SP yet so I guess I've yet to see how good the story is in C2.

I buy SP games for the story and if I ever want to play MP then I might one day buy something different from Unreal Tournament/Counter-Strike/HL2 Deathmatch\Quake Live etc. There's a reason these games are still being played years on whilst the next-to-last CoD4, or whatever, has been abandoned by the players/developers - it's not that the latest games are that bad, it's just that there's a mindless multiplayer element that wants the latest 'pretty' SP game to be something it's not and will happily pounce on the latest release understandably expecting something more.

I bought the game for the multiplayer. Crysis 1 story svcked ass, the second one is slightly better, gameplay is still boring imho. I like the multiplayer though, if it weren't all that bugged.

I did, as the multiplayer didn't really get me that interested in it. I love the single player, because contrarily to what people keep saying, it's fun, and it's got choices in what kind of strategy you want to apply. Wanna go Rambo? Armor. Wanna go stealth? Cloak. Wanna snipe? Snipe away good man! Of course its scripted, its got bugs...

but people tend to forget that Crysis 1 was not that much more open when in single player. It gave you the impression of being open with that big island, but then parts weren't accessible, you couldn't swim really far, etc. Honestly, yes, parts have been consolized (graphics options lacking, etc), but it's much more streamlined and focused as an experience.

I love it and I don't regret any penny spent on it :)

I bought the game for single player as well, but it turned out to be a pile of turd, so switching to multiplayer, that said i've already completed campaign 3-4 times anyways, never really payed much attention to multiplayer until now.

I bought it for both the story and the multiplayer.
Playing the story once, left a bitter taste in my mouth (since it had so little to do with Crysis 1 or telling us how the cliffhanger was resolved), but seeing some parts again made it feel better for an FPS's story. It's just not a very good Crysis story...

Bullsh1t on your post.

You played what you consider a "pile of turd" 3-4 times? I recon that means you actually enjoyed it and want to lie and jump the hate bandwagon or you have no life.

Pick your choice.
