Support Crysis 2

Post » Thu Nov 11, 2010 2:29 pm

So , im a big fan of Crysis and Crysis Warhead , those games really showed what PC can do and what consoles couldnt , Crysis is basically a PC game with PC community. Now lets see how many companies become one of the biggest in the industry just becouse they keep makeing PC based games... i can think about only 2 , VALVe and BLIZZARD. Crytek was my third choice.

So the situation is simple , console games make more sales then PC games. We all know that , even the stupid side of the community that deny the consoles , they know that too. From business stand point its better for a company to release a game focused on XBOX360 and PS3 right now , becouse they will make more money. But here is the problem. When you make a console game that have huge success , it will not last very long , at least till they finish the single player missions and have some fun on the multyplayer and after 2-3 mouths you wont even remember this game no matter how great it was just becouse there are soo many games that will be released for those platforms every mouth.

On the other hand , there are games that you can aways play and they are aways a part of your PC , games that you just can't uninstall just like that and i just wonder why developers don't fallow the same footsteps that games like StarCraft , Half Life and even Crysis made. Those games are aways out there and guess what .. they are PC based games from PC based companies.

I dont know what was the exact reason for Crytek to give up his reputation in PC community and give PC fans a DX9 game in 2011 , cannot even change menually the graphics from the game menu giving us 3 options that doesnt have any real difference and telling that DX11 patch will be released after 2-3 months becouse it wasn't ready... Ok Crytek, we understand this , but as a huge fan of Crysis , i didn't want to see that , i even would agree to delay the PC release till the point it's ready. Give the console fans Crysis 2 , so they can play it with full DX9 support and still looking great and let PC fans wonder "man i can't wait to see how this will look on my high end PC with DX11". The other 2 companies that i mentioned they would do that , they have a proud history of delaying their games , but they make sure their product wont be consider as "console port" becouse this is the way to buld a solid reputation.

Consoles are aways something temporarily , PC fans are much more hardcoe in supporting their favorite companies and games ,becouse it is the-best platfrom for competitive gameing and every person can make a career based on a game they love and still can play every single game that was released so far for PC .
PS3 and XBOX360 can't do that and they don't have this community that i am talking about.

You made Crysis 2 based on technology from 2005-2006 ... yes , they are getting old and this console port for the PC version showed this very clearly , consoles cannot show the real potential of Cry Engine 3.
Im sorry Crytek , you made a nice console looking game , but you really lost a lot of your hardcoe PC fans that made Crysis what it is today. Every time when someone mention Crysis , they will talk about the classic PC versions of the original and the sequel "Warhead" becouse after Crysis 2 , they are still the-best looking games so far.

In the end i just want to clear that out , i don't want to say anything negative for the PC version of Crysis 2 , i love it , i play it and i hope that you will continiue to support your PC community with patches, downloadable content to make it better and we will do the same for you , it is like "If we give love - We receive love". When someone make mistakes , he can aways fix them and you Crytek will have understanding and support from people like us , that never give up on supporting their favorite titles.

I'm about to give up on supporting them.

If a patch doesn't come out for multi GPU soon, I might have to contact steam and see if I can talk my way into a refund. I haven't been able to play this game since release day. So my patience is wearing thin. Especially since there's not even any indication Crytek knows why this is happening and has plans to even fix it in 1.2.

Talk to your video card company. Drivers are their responsibility, not Cryteks.

It's not a driver issue.

Nvidia have been investigating this and they can't see anything in the drivers that's causing it. They are blaming the application. So yeah it's up to EA/Crytek to fix this now.. and by the looks of it they won't be.

No problem, just a 76 page thread on this issue being ignored and no info given on what's being done to fix it.

Nvidia gave crytek 2 million dollars, and crytek messed the pc version up christ sake.
Don't blame nvidia( or even AMD) for bad coding of crytek.

well then its going to be fixed... they arent blind they can read threads as well as us and theyre doing their best to fix it so wait a little longer ?if not then stop trolling here and go get a refund. Not my problem that you wont disable 1 gpu and play crysis 2 on one gpu... for me its working great. Got like 30-40 fps with a 9800gt on high settings... and im sure u have like 580gtx or smth

Yeah you be happy with your 30-40 FPS, I'll wait for a fix.

Patch notes have nothing, so I guess maybe in 1.3 or 1.4? Looks like it's time to bug steam support for a refund.

This is where you lost, so your saying that people that 'deny' the consoles are the stupid side of the community because they aren't looking at it from a business perspective like you and the 'enlightened' side of the community apparently are. The thing is, we know that, we've acknowledged that as selling out, which it basically is. See, Crytek, a company founded on pushing the envelope of PC graphics, released a flaw ridden multiplatform game that is in many ways inferior to its 4 year old predecessor for the sake of console sales. It's not the sterile business practice you make it out to be.

Crytek was doing just fine just on PC, despite all their claims of pirates ruining business. I guess it can't be that big of a problem considering how horribly secured Crysis 2 is.
