Yea Gameservers.com seem ok. I used to rent from a UK GSP but what with current publishers only supporting selected GSP's I had to quit them and go with GS for a Crysis 2 server.
After you have rented a game server you basically log in to the GS website to see your control panel which is quite simple. A drop down box to select the config files, buttons to restart and stop your server. They are planning to integrate rcon facilities soon, which means ban\kick\change map\restart server and other commands will be available via your control panel. If you need any help you can always get it from the GS forums. I'm on there quite a bit lately and help out such as posting configs for Crysis 2 servers.
It is easier if you can share the cost with friends. My small gaming clan\community is made up of friends that I've known for years that help pay for our package. We have a 12 slot server (1 slot = 1 player), 10 slot Ventrilo server and free Web Hosting space of 2.5GB. We choose to pay every 3 months and its around 50 US Dollars which is around 32 quid in real money lol. Split between me and my mates it works out just over a fiver from each of us every 3 months.
You can rent a private server which is cheaper but that's no good unless you want it passworded all the time. A public server doesn't have to have a password but you can use one at any time. GS cheapest public server for crysis 2 is £6.57 a month for an 8 slot server, that would be 8 players total and 4 a side in team games. 12 slots is a nice sized server which will cost around a tenner a month. I had a CoDWAW 8 slot server for quite a while, was still good fun when it was busy.
There's other stuff you can learn such as ftp - sending files to and from your server, but they don't seem to support that with Crysis 2 servers, it's quite simple really the way they do it at GS.com.
Have fun!
