New steam patch broke the game

Post » Fri Nov 12, 2010 12:06 am

I logged in my PC tonight, and noticed steam updated a patch for Crysis 2, so I thought I would loggin to see if they fixed the loggin bugs, and now the game wont load past the first splash page (The crytek eye) anyone else have this?

I didn't even play the game yet, I was waiting for them to fix the game so I could enjoy it, but now, I just don't care, I'm over the fact I wasted money on this piece of ****, now its just wasting hardrive space, Crytek should be proud, at least if I was mad, it means I am mad cause I want to play, now im not mad, cause the game lost it's appeal, and I didn't even load it up yet.

Crytek have mentioned that the loading time for Steam users would be longer after the patch, which it noticeable is. They'll fix it later this week as far as I know. Leave the loading screen on, the eye and it'll load up after a while. I only noticed this because I left my pc to go pee and I came back to a menu screen :)

Steam version currently takes around 15 seconds to start up. It's mentioned in the patch notes. On the bright side: now everything else works :D

Same - my version just stays at this low-res CryEngine 3 eye for about 30 seconds (post-patch it's now about a minute) before moving onto the actual logos.

You know, this is bad advertising for Nvidia and CryEngine 3. Is this really the way it's meant to be played? If so, I think I might pass.
