Best perks/modules to use

Post » Thu Nov 11, 2010 8:30 pm

It depends on your playstyle but mine is.

Armor: Nano tranfer (shooting outta stealth losing all your energy but then regaining it after the kill so rinse and repeat)
Stealth: Stealth Ehancer (Allows you to quickly enter and exit stealth and with upgrades makes you near invisable and lowers its drain rate)
Power: Mobilty Ehancer (Allows you to insert yourself in battle quickly and easyly with plenty of energy to spare)

Retriever kills all the other power mods hands down, especially after you upgrade it.

I agree, retriever is great but it would be even better if the killstreaks in crysis werent so rubbish.

From my observation of the best players on psn and my own experience:

Run and gun: Energy transfer, stealth enhance and mobility enhance

Every other playstyle differs nicely but this one really has only one combo for consistent success. Some of the stealth and armour modules are a joke.

I would suggest trying weapon pro, however. One of the most overlooked modules in the game. Faster reload, ads and weapon switch are all essential head to head engagements.

What I go for while playing is...

Energy Transfer
Stealth Enhancement
Movement Enhancement

That way I can easily keep moving while attacking and quickly get lost while being chased. Great for playing cat and mouse with the enemys. Not only this, you could use your leaping and sliding much more while playing, so you can leap over your enemies head, making it harder for them to keep their aim on ya. Great for playing a fast paced game. Mix that in with a Feline, you be almost unstopable.

Baby Mode loadout:
Energy Transfer III
Stealth Endurance III
Mobility Enhance III

If you get tired of being a stealth whore:
Armor Enhance II+
Cloak Tracker III
Mobility Enhance III or Aim Enhance III

Use the Mk60 or SCAR and tank stuff. Stay in Armor mode pretty much the whole time, when you get low on energy hide and let your energy recharge then get back in Armor mode. Keep nano vision up as much as possible to be on the lookout for cloaked negr...I mean, players. It's very easy to see cloaked players with Cloak Tracker III and nano vision up. Only use your cloak defensively IE when you need to get from point A to point B without being seen. The purpose of this build is to turtle up and tank, not to zoom around the map as an invisible ninja shooting people in the back of the head.

After getting to rank 50 its pretty clear that the cookie cutter set up most people are using is-

Energy Transfer or Nano Recharge
Stealth Enhance or Covert Ops
Mobility Enhance

Its just very easy to do well with this. Although I would say its easy to do well with anything considering how bad the majority of players are. I played 7 or so games yesterday and NEVER used Armor or Stealth and pulled a 2 KDR in every game. I have rank 5 Mobility, Rank 1 Armor and Rank 1 Stealth at the moment.

What modules you are using dont matter too much as it mostly comes down to what you do at what times but you really cant go wrong with these.

Smaller maps (Skyline, Impact) - Energy Transfer, Stealth Enhance, Weapon Pro
Bigger maps - Energy Transfer(although Nano Recharge is sometimes a lot better), Stealth Enhance, Mobility Enhance.

I was using Cover Ops at first as I started playing, but my God is it useless when there is so much shooting around you. I like to listen to the game, but when sometimes all you constantly hear are shoots from dif directions it's hard to hear your opponents steps at all...

The thing I find myself stuck with sometimes is I'd like to try a different module depending on the map and Game mode, but it's not fully upgraded to level 3 to be worth using instead of a perk I got already at 3 that is just not as good for the particular scenario.

How does Aim Enhance help snipers at all? The reticle resets before you can shoot again anyway.

What do you think is better? Retriever is the only one that contends with it to be honest and even then thats only if you are sniping.

Retriever is better for sure. Aim enhance also contends especially when its upgraded. And i also think faster reloading can be very useful. Just my opinion of course.

Well I think we all know about that one at this point, so I'll put up something else.

Had a lot of success with:
Armor: Nano Recharge
Stealth: Stealth Enhance
Power: Rapid Fire
Scarab w/ Reflex, Supressor, Extended Magazine and Majestic. Rapid Fire actually makes burst fire really good, and I found myself able to easily respond to fire effectively because of the fire rate.

Also, for Crash Site:
Armor: Nano Recharge
Stealth: Jammer
Power: Loadout Pro
Mk60 with reflex and extended mag, LTAG. The LTAG is excellent for bombarding crash sites, and the mk60 has good stopping power for defense.

For mid-ranged Crash Site:
Armor: Nano Recharge
Stealth: Stealth Enhance
Power: Rapid Fire
M2014 with Reflex and extended with AY69. Just wait for someone to throw a good nade into a crash site (or throw a good nade into the crash site) and you can one shot everyone whos at all damaged. Also makes it so that if you have a teammate defending with you, you can kill anyone coming in thats gotten hit in one shot. Rapid Fire also makes it so that you can survive on your own in close range stuff if you're able to connect with two shots in a row. For attacking crash sites you can basically use the M2014 as a small artillery piece and just fire into a crowd. You'll get a few kills most of the time. Also, most people forget that the M2014 can bring down a gunship in 3 shots, which is always a good thing.

So does rapid fire make the grendel shoot quicker between bursts or does it makes the bullets within the burst quicker.......OR does it do anything at all.

From what I can tell, it makes you able to shoot bursts with less time inbetween.

I have been successful with this set up. It is really good when your out numbered comparatively:

Armor Enhanced (lets you move quickly in armor mode)
Visor Enhanced (Easy to tell where any one is (they have a slight red glow in cloak mode), if you cant see them nano vision takes almost no energy)
Loadout Pro (heavy weapons and attachments have no speed penalties)

If you use this class you should use Mk. 60 Mod 0 and add there reflex sight. The second primary is debatable, I normally use a sniper or x-43 Mike works well. The theory behind this class is that you are nimble in armor mode while having a high damage output. Also cloaked enemies are easier to see at any distance.
