Why not release more music from the game?

Post » Thu Nov 11, 2010 4:06 pm

A lot of the music in the game's videos is really good, like the one in Prophet's Journey or the intro to Seat of Power. So why not just release these great tracks? This is one area where Western developers could really take a lesson from Japan... they release pretty much all the music there is, whether it's a video game or a television show or a movie.

Sure, but it doesn't have all the music from the game, not even close. My point is that Crytek could release those tracks that play during videos, such as Prophet's Journey. They aren't, as far as I know, even in the game's .pak file.

Yeah, I expected the intro of Seat of Power in the OST but it isn't.

Is there any way to download it?

WRONG: they are in the music.pak file (in ogg format). the full 42 tracks are in the extras menu of the game (so saying they're not there is wrong because why bother making menu options for something if you're not gonna put it in) but you would need to somehow open the music.pak file in the retail game but it fails saying it's not a usable archive.

The prophet's journey soundtrack is in the game files, but it's a looped and short music clip, which is repeated when you are inside the submarine at the beginning of the game.
I'd like a full version of it.

the 42-track version is in the extras section of the game menu: you just gotta get into the music.pak file (but you can't because it won't be opened as an archive.)

I have already opened the .pak file, but I cannot find the music tracks that you are so sure are in it. If you know for a fact that they're in the .pak, I'd like to know the specific file names.
