Mine does the exact same thing, I have even deleted and reinstalled the game but no luck.

Any ideas on how to get this resolved?

Same issue here.

When I select the 'Multiplayer' option after the login screen, the game briefly shows a box for me to type in my multiplayer key. That only happens for about 1 second, and then the game crashes to desktop with an error that says "CryEngine Error: Deleting Reference Counted Object Twice." It gives me an "OK" button to click, and when I do, Windows pops up with a message that says "Crysis 2 (TM) has stopped working: A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

I've tried the manual patch which failed to find Crysis 2 on my pc, I've tried the multiplayer work-around to save my key which did not work.

I purchased Crysis 2 through Steam, so I did "Verify Integrity of Game Cache" which indicates no problem with my download being corrupted.

Here are my computer stats:
Windows 7 x64 Professional SP1
installed via boot camp on iMac 27" Mid-2010
core i7 870 @ 2.93GHz
4.00 GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 5750 1GB VRAM

Please CryTek, let me know if this issue is being addressed. I purchased Crysis 2 from Steam after playing the demo and being convinced that the multiplayer was so much fun, but now I can't even play the actual multiplayer.

Thanks.

HI,

I bought Crysis 2 PC DVD from a local online game store here in South Africa, and as per all your comments above, I receive the same error.

I have tried uninstalling the game and re-installing, I also tried downloading the update patch and re-installing that, but to no avail.

My system:

Windows Home Premium 64bit
Asus P5KC MB
4 gig ram
Nvidia 512mb 8800 GTS OC
E8200 Intel Core 2 Duo CPU

Bought my friend the game too, Limted Edition PC DVD and his game works fine.....

Please assist further...

Bump (again). Just want to keep this issue known and addressed. I am really liking the singleplayer campaign, but I'd really love to even look at the multiplayer.

Hmm, first I've heard of this error...

theppb@gmail.com mentioned playing the demo. Did you uninstall that before installing the retail version? Have you other guys got the demo/not uninstalled it? Got patch 1.1 working? Just curious cause that's a wierd sounding error lol

PS: Mine is PC DVD and I've never had this error...accessing it fine.

I did not uninstall the demo, though I was using the Steam version (not sure if it was available elsewhere). As far as I can tell, Steam managed it in such a way that the demo and the full game were not in the same directory when I installed the full game through Steam. I have since deleted the demo in the hopes of fixing this issue, but it hasn't had any effect.

I have downloaded and tried to install patch 1.1, but the patch for whatever reason doesn't find my install of the full game. I don't know how to correct that issue, but I also don't know what version of the full game I have through Steam (I can't find a version number when I start the game in any of the game menus, and Steam doesn't display the version number that I have found).

This is ridiculous, Why release a game that has so many issues, shouldn't these kind of bugs be addressed in testing before a game is released?!

The SP campaign is really good, its just very sad that the entire game experience is brought to its knees as so many people are having issues with MP, and not just us.

EA - you are letting yourselves down, all your hard work an effort that was put into this (what would be an) amazing game, to go to waste... :'(
