Main thing wrong with that is the the xbox 360 would not be able to handle the draw distances as an owner of both a 360 and a pc i will admit i enjoy the xbox more because i like the gamepad but the hardware is old and as if right now it wouldn't be able to handle a game like Crysis with large draw distances

Why cant it sink in? Consoles cant handle it. You might think Crysis 2 is amazing on your Xbawks but youre playing on 720p resolution, minimum settings, the draw distance is still 20-30 meters for most objects in game and you are still only cranking out 30FPS. Honestly most PC players would consider that unplayable because of how terrible it looks and runs. Whats worse is they forced this garbage draw distance on PC players too. Why the **** do I see bushes and doors appearing out of nowhere when im running forwards?

Fact is you arnt going to get a game that has Crysis visual quality AND open levels on current generation consoles.

You get one or the other, not both.

Your Xbox doesn't have enough memory for it. 512 MB is a pitifully small amount to have in the year 2011.

Uh huh. Free roam DLC?
For that amount of effort, you're looking at a fully blown expansion.

It could be possible for the PC version (Let alone, we're getting the Sandbox 3 editor, so we can make our very own large world), but I don't think it's possible for consoles.

But let me say, for a game like Crysis 2 to achieve something so big yet on something which is really old (PS3/360), it's a pretty big achievement. But I don't think it can go further, which is a shame.

Derp. PC Elitists have spoken.

It's not about it beeing possible, it's about it beeing done. That video is from 2009, so I think Crytek have done several performance and graphics tweaking since then, it is possible.

The only showed off a small portion of the Crysis 1 island, which I guarantee you has invisible walls to prevent the player from going too far in the demonstration. It was also devoid of AI.

It never ceases to amaze me how can look at a tech demo and think that is a 100% representation of what a game is going to be like when it's released.

Do you even know how retarded your post is? It cant be done. Consoles dont have the memory for it. You would have draw distances of only several meters.

Again why cant it sink into your idiotic brain? You can have low end Crysis visuals or open levels, not both. Your stoneage hardware cant handle it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WJG14uLA3k&feature=grec_index

Watch this video and maybe you will see how much it has to be downgraded. The first comparison in particular shows all thats needed really. Theres basically nothing beyond your immediate surroundings on the console set up.

Now this isnt about CE2 vs CE3. Its about PC settings vs console settings.

Go to 1:40 even where is he down on the beach. See that terrain on the top right? Thats supposed to be covered in trees. THAT is how low the draw distance would have to be. That terrain is also playable space, infact you are required to go over there. So as you are plodding along you are going to be seeing trees popping up out of nowhere as you get closer and closer. It would be a complete eyesore.

I never said that a Crysis 1 on Consoles could match up to the Crysis 1 PC quality on Very High. -.- Don't lay words in my mouth I haven't even thought of.

I know the video, and I also know, that this is a comparison from a now three years old Tech Demo, to a full polished game Version. As long as I haven't seen any footage of the current Cryengine 3 handling giant terrains, I'll keep myself open. When It happens, it happens, I just don't know when. And maybe I will do that, when the Cryengine 3 SDK comes out. It has the Live Create feature with it, so I'll plug my "Xbawks" in my PC and load up a Crysis 1 Level. Probably Island.

As long as that doesn't happen, I don't argue with anyone about this theme, because it's retarded. Proof or no proof, and you don't have any proof to show, that consoles can't handle a Crysis 1 version on CE3. It surely can handle it, but with limitations, and you know what, when playing consoles, I can live with limitations.

About the Drawdistance. Play Crysis 2 on PC there you have the same problem.

It never ceases to amaze me how can look at a tech demo and think that is a 100% representation of what a game is going to be like when it's released.
That is my point. They could have improved the Engine from there and make it more capable on consoles, who knows? Until we get a proper answer on this nerdquestion, where every flamer needs to take part, it's dumb to say "consoles can't handle dadada"...

Weve had a proper answer from Crytek, the answer is no.

For PC I would definitely pay for a game mode which had much larger maps and teams. Call it 'warzone/Power struggle/conquest' and sell it(cheap) as an expansion. I would imagine quite a few PC players would pay a little money for the opportunity to see Crysis actually use the PC hardware.

Unless you mean to imply that they found a way to create the same assets (trees, shacks, vehicles, boxes, furniture, etc.) using a drastically smaller amount of RAM, then no, that's not the kind of improvement you see in an engine over time. They may have been able to trim a little bit off the corners, but not enough to all of a sudden make a huge level possible on the consoles.

When engines improve from when they are first revealed, they are improved by reducing the amount of information the processor has to process to run the game, eliminate physics bugs, make more fluid animations, improve lighting effects, etc. Most of these things result in at best the same amount of RAM consumption as before or more RAM consumption being the worse case.

So... he's getting maybe 20-30fps @ 720p @ medium, without:
a fair amount of textures
proper shaders
most objects
AI
any sort of combat

Once you add those you'll see the FPS plummet.

like i said made with hacked iso hacked engine etc - well see when the official sandbox comes out and what great modders can do with it. Looks just as bad/good as c2 anyhoo - shaders are there just colours need to be fixed etc but like i said not bad for a copy paste job - and the whole point of the engine is that its multiplatform and scalable well supposed to be :)

What's your point?

Halo has never looked anywhere near as good as any Crysis game.
