inCrysis.com-user Wasdie has made a nice tool who configures the autorun.ini easily through a nice user interface.

Get it here on his Blog (also with updates and new features):

http://www.wasdie.blogspot.com/

(He puts the latest updates only there as he states in his inCrysis.com-post: http://www.incrysis.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=33008)

You can use it and then go to %PROGRAMFILES%\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis 2\ and edit the system.cfg to delete all lines you don't want to apply, save and play the game.

what exactly does fov do?

FoV or "Field of View" does define how big the angle of the game-world is on your screen. The more it goes up, the more you will see mainly left and right of your screen but if you put too much fov you can get a "fish-eye-effect" where the world seems to be seen through a fish bowl full of water ;)

Edit:
MAN! I should be paid by Crytek to give support on these forums xD 10€ for an hour would be great d-.-b

Open up notepad
Paste this in it:

cl_fov=75
r_DrawNearFoV=75

Click: File\Save As

In the save window, click the drop down box and change the 'save as type' from:
'Text Documents (*.txt) to 'All Files'.

For a filename type autoexec.cfg

Save it somewhere such as your desktop and then copy it to the installation directory of your game for example:
C:\Games\Crysis 2\

Jobs a goodun! :)

A low FOV gives me motion sickness. A good example of this is Mirror's Edge which is unplayable for me as it turns me green after 10 minutes! Which is a shame cos it's a great game and looks stunning.

Off topic: I've been seeing a lot of Mirror's Edge in the latest BF3 videos. They're definitely using what they learnt from that game.

My preference:
Don't change the [cl_fov] cause it will affect your vision. The default 55 is quite ok for me.
What I've changed is the [r_DrawNearFov]. I changed it from 55 to 70. That will lengthen your arms & you'll see more of the weapon you'e holding. Although it might change the shape of the weapon stock slightly, but it's still a good solution for me.

Thanks for this, I was wondering what r_DrawNearFov was actually doing...
