can someone please explain the crysis 2 storyline for me?

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 12:09 am

so i just finished my playthrough of the campaign today and i was a bit confused about the whole story.
i have a few questions
1. so about the alien tissue that you have to collect in the first couple missions. what did your suit do with it?
2. what was in the syringe that you picked up from hargreave?
3. why was hargreave in that thingy?
4. what does the alien spore thingys do? why did you have to sabotage it?
5. in the last cutscene, can someone explain to me what that was all about? something about prophet and the suit and how he was still alive?
thx, plz answer anything you can

so alcatraz became prophet? weird
but at number 2, i thought when you were leaving the place where you picked up the syringe, he tells all the CELL people to not kill you

1. It allowed you to interact with the spore.
2. It was the Tunguska Iteration. The Tunguska iteration allows you to make the spore lethal to the ceph. hargreave stole some technology from them 100 years ago at Tunguska and made this and the nanosuit.
3. His body is stored in their because without it he would die and his body is way to frail to leave it now.
4. You sabotaged it because it would have killed all human life in NY but instead you made it kill only the ceph.
5. Well prophets personality (consciences?) was stored inside the suit and after Alcatraz learned he was still with him he apparently decide to call himself prophet.

1. The suit absorbs and merges with the Ceph DNA allowing the suit to upgrade itself and work on a vaccine.
2. A fixing agent the suit needed to improve its ability to counter the spore.
3. He was extremely old and needed it to stay alive.
4. The spore is a biological weapon that kills specific lifeforms (in this case its humans).
5. Prophets personality and such merged with the suit while he was wearing it. Alcatraz was essentially dead within the suit so the N2 is, in a way, operating itself as if Prophet were controlling it. The suit thinks its Prophet.

1. The suit absorbed it and began anolysing it and tried to make a new virus that would simultaneously cure any human with the original strand and kill the Ceph instead.

2. The suit could not make the complete new virus strand by itself. The Syringe contained the genetic material the suit needed to complete its new version of the virus. What exactly that genetic material was is never explained.

3. It's a cryogenic chamber that is keeping his body preserved so he can live longer than he should.

4. The "spore thingy" as you call it is how the Ceph release their virus. You go inside and sabotage it by releasing the new virus your suit created, which "cancels out" the old virus and instead kills any Ceph it comes across.

5. This part is up for debate, since its too vague for anyone to come to a consensus on what happened. Some think the minds of Alcatraz and Prophet became one. Some think Prophet "killed off" Alcatraz and is now using his body as his own. There are a few other theories floating around, but those are the big two.

I bump this thread for my opinion about 5. after reading the book.

I'd say that the Suit itself is Prophet after Laurences death. You know, Laurence was it's first "host" so it assumed to be Prophet too (after all, it's semi-alien tech). It doesn't mean that Alcatraz is dead, because it's said in the book that Alcatraz was still being himself although he shared some of Prophet's memories. He was still the good old half-dead grunt. Trapped in the suit :P Taken into protective overwatch after defeating the Ceph in NY.
It's also said that their (A and N2) "minds" were halfway merged so they had to be considered as one entity for easier understandings.

Any way it doesn't matter much, because CryTek might just reboot the series again for C3 :)

I'm hoping we get a different protagonist for C3; perhaps Psycho.

Someone who is capable of speaking without using the nanosuit would be a good start.

Tbh though, I doubt this will happen. It seems from what the game has lead up to, that we'll be seeing more Alcaprophet in C3, and probably in Europe. At the very least I'll hope for a nanosuit upgrade (and not one which makes the game insanely easy).

the easy and realistic thing for the ending is that alcatraz lungs were destroyed/severly damaged by the ceph attack at the start, also i think his vocal box got shot or something i dunno, he can't speak, you saw how the suit is trying to copy prophets voice and personality especially towards the end, when it says assimilation complete we don't know if the suit or alcatraz gets assimilated and since alcatraz's voice was damaged the suit could of spoken for him/ the suit now fully thinks is prophet so it might act as an ai in number 3.
i don't think alcatraz is dead since the suit is speaking to him not prophet especially at the end
can't wait for crysis 3 maybe we'll learn that somehow hargreaves escaped in nanosuit one lol
