Bright textures problem/bug

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 11:20 am

I have a problem with textures in Crysis 2. Everything is bright! Just look at the screens.

Guns, aliens and even a fence are unnaturally white. It affects the whole map. To get rid of it I need to restart computer every time I want to play C2, which is obviously annoying. I did some research and it looks that the problem occurs after playing videos/music in the Internet.

Does anyone have similar problem?

My Girlfriend had the same issue with her nVIDIA GTX460. I think quitting to desktop and a restart of the game or maybe a reboot of her machine did the trick. She also tried to play in windowed mode and there it never happened. After a while she switched back to full screen and never had issues again. Perhaps it's just +1 to the other 1000 bugs.
My PC is powered by a Radeon HD5870 and I never had visual issues besides the rain inside buildings (...and yes the buildings still had their ceilings).

Hmm... That's strange. I also have GTX 460... It's seems that the problem is connected with this specific card.
That's right - the reboot is a solution, but an annoying solution. I haven't tried a windowed mode, but I'll surely try. I will also write about it to Nvidia, maybe they're going to fix it with the drivers.

@mbw124 Do you also have GTX 460?

did anyone of you try the latest beta driver ? 270.51?

In nvidia control pannel you can manually adjust brightness /gamma things for games don't know if it works or something.
Never tried :)

I am using these drivers and nothing.

These values don't change themselves during a game. I'm afraid the problem is in the game, not in settings.

For me a problem appears after using web browsers. After restarting when the computer is "clean" everything in OK.

Weird. I have never had a problem like this before. It MIGHT be the brightness setting, check it out. My only problem with the textures is that they're just plain bad.
