Simple way of getting free DLC and making community happier

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 9:53 am

I think this would make a win-win situation!

To avoid crytek making DLC maps how about relase sandbox 3 and announce a contest for map makers!
The winner/s will have their map in the DLC and full credit would be given.

Why is it a win win?
Well - we get the maps + sandbox 3.
Crytek dosen't have to develop the map therefore they can concentrate on patches ETC...

what do you guys think?

Good idea, however I guarantee you all of the DLC was ready for release at launch. It could have been released with the game. They are just holding back on it so that they can make more money.

I think that Crytek and EA probably prefer the additional money, i think that probably a whole bunch of DLC maps are already finished, and i think that the whole not-including of sandbox3 in the retail game was to squeeze some more money out of the customers.

i dont think that will work, if those same maps are already available for free then why would anyone buy them

i think crytek will do the same as epic and release a free cryengine3 for developers to play with, i don't see why they wont do that and take the activision the route

i don't understand why people buy those DLCs of black ops and modern warfare 2, how can people be so dumb, if crytek wants to create a DLCs then it should be like mass effect, new adventures with new enemies/weapons that continues the game of crysis 2

I have no problem paying extra for more maps and such - if you make a game so good that your customers want even more, you should get paid to make more. Game Development is neither cheap nor easy. We paid mainly for the singleplayer. I'm pissed about the current bugs too, but when they have them fixed, I'll get bored quickly by the "few" multiplayer maps. If they create more maps for hardcoe multiplayer fans like me, hell yeah, gimme those maps! It's better I pay more for my mp extras, than having people that only care about singleplayer paying a higher price for included extra multiplayer maps.

And I actually don't like it when modders get too much impact on a game. I know, without modders many things would have never happened/existed, but having everything coming from the same developer has less tendency of splitting the gaming community and/or breaking the game. Some modders are just great artists, but have no clue about gaming... Crysis Wars had some quite stupid maps made by modders, and also some quite ugly ones.

Modding competition sounds impractical to me, but would be awesome if they find a way to do it, without losing influence/money...

Oftentimes, mapmakers are able to produce maps on par if not better then those featured in DLC packs.

I'm all for this idea, Crytek really needs to focus on patches and to fix its relationship with the community.

that's ignorant, mods build gaming communities not break the game, and Crysis 2 is a pure pc game even with all the problems, its all about its engine cryengine 3, its going to go head to head with epic unreal engine 3, its good for them if start-up companies moved to cryengine 3, and guess how its going to happen, with mods

Sandbox 3 CLEARLY isn't ready for release or we would have it already. Pointless thread.

And enough with the damn petitions. This forum is full of twelve year olds.

DLC's are stupid.
Give people tools and they will make this game great.
Simple, isn't it?

Good luck with that. The low level of attention and service we get and the large amount of ignorance on Crytek's part disgusts me.

I'll send the email to Crytek, but maybe we could flesh out the agreement a little more?

Sandbox 3 probably isn't complete at this stage, but that's not to say it won't be done WAY before they actually release it.

Best idea i ever heard on this topic. Maps should be made by the gamer, so they get what they want every time.
