Is Cloak really needed ?

Post » Sat Mar 12, 2011 9:52 pm

After multiple posts "noobs of shooting out of cloak", and some stupid comment by a camper on MP, I decided to run around in Armour mode without using cloak or shooting from cloak - and im surprised to see that cloaking was not necessary, I could easily kill with out cloaking using just armour and armour enhance module. Your thoughts as there are some players who never use stealth much.

Cloaking is fun, makes you be a bit more aware of shadows of other people and watching your back all the time. I find it a really nice feature myself.

Yeah, I know that. I don't use cloak at all anymore, unless I play Sniper or defend a Crash Site. Or Assault.

But people keep thinking that cloak is the best weapon and without it they would hardly fail, when it's not...

Last night, after playing with JustNameless, I was thinking about doing a "no cloak match" too. If I'll succeed, I'm going to make an Armor 24/7 class.
As for cloak: I generally use it for movement and reloading while I use armor in firefights and CS.

You keep punching out of cloak O_o You use armor very few times.

Armor 24/7 is what I do, lol, with Armor and Mobility Enhance, you rock the Crash Site!

Actually, I've got a bit more Armor XP than you and our profile pages show that it's ME who uses Armor mode more often. Just check it. It's only a little, but still.

That's because I was a little Cloaker when i started playing. :3

But, of course, Cloak isn't needed. It's just beeing abused right now. Reminds me to Bad Company 2: M60 + Agoc for MEDIC class... OP and abused, 60% of all players were medics with this damn thing O_o until they nerfed it.

Alright guys, I'm back after playing a few matches without cloak!
The results:
Seems that cloak isn't that important. --(Dunno why, I originally used it as a counter for long-range encounters and getting shot at, but it seems that everybody is just too blind or lazy to fire at me, even when I'm not cloaked)-- BUT I'm not saying that I'm all Armor now. No no no. I'm just making 1 or 2 classes that will focus on Armor mode.

One small step for me, but a big leap for Crysis.
Now we need to somehow convince Frankfurt.

If there weren't cloak then the whole point of nanosuit and the entire crysis franchise would disappear and the game would be just another copy fps.

Crysis is not only defined by the cloak, that's something people need to understand. Crysis is defined by ALL of the Nanosuit Modes, not just one.

Yes, Crysis IS defined by all of the suit modes. Crysis 2 however, has 2 suit modes, and is often defined by one of them.

Normal sprint and speed mode back plx kthnks.

Well, they are using all three. I don't know how often I saw people in Armor mode - probably more often as in Cloak.

But Armor Mode is mainly used when you're in Combat while Cloak is used when you're currently not in a direct confrontation with an enemy. And the latter situation is more common.

Then of course, the power-mode, which is passive and used probably all the time.

So, all you're complaining about is worthless as it wasn't any different with C1 and speed-mode: People used speed 90% of the time as in said 90% they were moving towards an enemy and used Cloak and Strengh when needed (which was rather common at some places) and used Armor when in combat. It's just when you're not in combat yourself most of the time, too and with your teammates, you obviously gonna see them more often in Cloak (or Speed in C1)

After seeing JustNameless No Cloak Video - I've been practicing no cloak but my fingers is just to used to hitting E all the time.. gonna take some time for me to get used to the no cloak move.. I now also have more energy for Amour when in battle so I've been enjoyin the no cloak move I've decided on but JustNamesless makes it look too easy!

xD

Basically you can run around in Armor mode, not only activate it in Combat. AE and ME on and there you go. Is even more fun and my surviving time is definately longer. ;P

@ DarthHova is practice, I know, but you know what? You don't have to reduce cloak to nothing, but just don't spam it as hell. When I enter a match, cloak is not the first action I do. ^^ Use it to change positions in critical situations, but leave cloak be a tactical defense method.

I don't force people to use armor now, I just want people to see that cloak isn't the only method to win. That's what people think right now.
