I say no because game-based movies tend to be AWFUL, except for some exceptions (TRON series, for example). That's because you need to not only provide a story, but a CULTURE and a WORLD. I think Crysis 2 does this well, but only for its own game. You can't really expand away from the characters and the game's story....otherwise it risks being really hokey. It'd be another typical alien flick with super soldiers and I think it would be a mockery to the series.
So, no. I'm still skeptical to make see ANY game develop into a movie. But if I had to choose current running game series that I think could get it pulled off right if done properly by the studios, it'd be Bioshock, or Half-Life. I think those games develop not only good stories in the game themselves, but provide a very iconic world which you could build and expand a movie plot around.
