How to cap FPS in menu to save GPU?

Post » Mon Mar 21, 2011 5:51 am

Hi,

There is some debate in a couple topics here, if Crysis 2 is killing GPU's just like SC2 did by not capping FPS.
I don't say it does but I know one of my cards died. So my question is how to cap FPS just to be the save. And maybe it would be a good idea for the next patch to also add a FPS-cap.

It needs to work in the menu, not only in the game.

Games not capping fps does not ruin a graphics card, they are designed to render as fast as possible within their thermal design capacity.

If your graphics card overheats when you're playing an intensive game, it's probs because you've i) Overclocked it or ii) Not adequately cooling your PC.

agreed.......o.p. if your video cards dies from playing a game youve oc'd it WAAAAY to much or it svcked to begin with! a fps cap is b.s. need for speed hot pursuit has one capped at 60 fps. o.p. if you want fps cap go play the console version. if you want to play on the pc build a better one!

To answer your question rather than debate whether it's your fault or the games, what you need is the advanced graphics options tool from here: http://wasdie.blogspot.com/2011/03/crysis-2-advanced-graphics-options-17.html

it has an option to cap FPS.

Wait you didnt see the auto caper. Its known as VSync and unless you have a 120Hz LCD then your going to be caped at 60FPS.

I love when people blame games for killing their poorly built PC's.

It could be the video card was underpowered. Or power fluctuations either way can damage one. What card and power supply did you have?

It's capped at 60 post patch 1.2 If you're having issues its probably with your card, not the game.
