Crysis vs Metro 2033

Post » Tue Mar 22, 2011 6:09 am

I'm actually just wondering why I get lower frames in Crysis 2 as opposed to Metro 2033. I get 30fps constant in C2 and around 40-45 in Metro 2033. Both are running 1080p vertical sync on Metro 2033. Only option not on in Metro is Adv DOF.

System is 8gb ddr3
GTX 460 1gb
AMD Phenom 2.9ghz Quad
Win 7 64bit

Is C2 really more intensive or is there a compatibility problem?

that's strange.....I also have a GTX460 (but with 768mb) and quadcore 2,33GHz. 6gb RAM. W7 64bit Home Premium.
Depending on which version (1.2 with autoexec or 1.4 on extreme settings) I have about 35-49fps or 40-50fps....

Could just be fraps lowering my frames but I can't find a way to display frames in game like in Crysis 1. As far as I'm aware its all up to date

some parts in metro 2033 aren't demanding while some parts in crysis 2 are demanding. but anyway crysis 2 still needs optimizations from crytek and Nvidia and AMD. also an overclock on the cpu to at least 3.6 helps out alot in framerate in crysis 2.

To anyone thats scratching there heads:
Metro isn't Graphically intensive more or less it is a pig for VRAM, even with SLI 460's, you will only get 20fps on blast settings with Dx11, not because the cards cant render but because the card runs out of VRAM, and SLI, does not share VRAM, same goes for Crysis, its not difficult with Framerate, more or less it needs VRAM, Crysis on very high wants about 850mb of RAM for the first Level alone, if your talking about Recovery, OH, were talking about a gig, Metro wants atleast 1.5 Gigs, which would mean the only card that can run it stable is a 580, or a 480, because thats the amount of VRAM they have. It was near imposible to achieve 60fps on CRysis back in the day because the average card only had 512mb of VRAM, crysis 2 though, with heavy optimization, only takes about 500-600mb, easily achievable with a 9800gt.
