Did Crytek hire a bunch of amateurs to work on Crysis 2?

Post » Fri Apr 22, 2011 5:35 am

No, I mean wheres the FPS game you coded and sold.

And for such a stupid comment, you and Sgt. Fuzzyboots just made my ignore list.

Oh ****. The worlds most retarded nobody put me on his ignore list!

Guess the two of us are going to have to commit suicide now that were on this guys "ignorant list"

Mad and wrong. You say that each patch could cause another bug etc etc? If it was coded correctly in the first place it wouldn't be hard to improve and add to. The guy made a legitimate observation. Many game companies start off with a great team of developers, then off the back of the money they made from the first crysis game they employed a **** load of idiots. The **** I'm bothered about are the database/login problems and I think before people scream for DX11 and minor things like the gaycam being off, crytek should consider fixing it so people like myself who preordered the game on day 1 can actually log in.

Hahaha, I was going to argue with you about how Crysis 2 wasn't "that" bad on release, but in all honesty, were paying for a product that should be finished, not perfect, but usable by all who baught it. It's BS that you, who payed money for the game, got something that was broken.

What they need now is a Cry-debugging-engine that allows them to debug across 3 formats at once.[/quote]

Hahahaha, 100% agree!!!

You are a complete IDIOT.

Game developing is NOT THAT EASY you freakin retard. Don't open your mouth and make stupid claims such as the one you made in this thread with your first post when you know NOTHING about game development.

I don't really care much about this argument, I don't think Cryteks staff are at fault I just think Crytek prioritized certain elements of the console versions at the expense of everything else.

But IMO you are off track in this argument.

I don't think you can drag his argument back into the theoretical and then attempt to win it it by demonstrating superior knowledge of games development. Heres why.

When he said it was taking an "extraordinary" long time it's most likely that he was saying so relative to the time that was taken to do the same type of thing in other titles. Thats what any smart person would do even if they did understand the theory, short cut it out of the equation, because we have real world examples for comparison.

Unless you have actually worked on games yourself and you have some real world examples in your experience you aren't bringing anything better to the table than that.

A better argument would be to find examples where it has taken longer to patch similar issues or if it's just his remarks about the staff which bothers you, you might simply argue that he has no idea how many staff have be allocated in this case or in any case he is using for comparison.

Crytek HAD to prioritize the consoles. They had to use them as the limiting factors for development and then extend on the specific features the more stronger platforms (in this case being PC) are to get. OF COURSE, they couldn't extend TOO much before release and have to finish off with patches and updates BUT i've explained this too many times.

Moving on,

I have already won the argument. Actually, there's nothing to win since I automatically win for simply KNOWING how incorrect and FALSE this thread is. AND, actually as a matter of fact, I don't even think there's a true argument with me and the OP, it's me simply stated the stupidity of the OP and this thread and my reasons. BUT, I'm going to pretend this IS a argument: notice how I emphasized your "most likely?" It means that what you say is not truly definite. And from what I know, I disregard what you say after BECAUSE the OP has the lack of ignorance, which is easy to note through how he develops his posts.

I don't think they are going to fix the map design or A.I with patches, though.

Hahahahahahaha...exactly what would have said. Nice comback!!!

No it isn't it's absolutely ridiculous 250 people worked on Crysis 2. None of them could have built and sold it alone either. All this does is weaken his argument by implying he couldn't think of a better one.

No I'm sorry. Everyone has completely flawed logic on how game development works, especially when it comes to PC games. This isn't the 90s where there were real basic hardware configurations. It's 2011. The vast number of different hardware and software variables are so high, it's quite easy for bugs to occur, issues not fixed for everyone, QA to miss things. This is normal. Get off your high horses and go make your own game before you criticize **** like this.

I'm not trying to insult anyone or vent steam - this is just an observation. The patches have taken extraordinarily long to complete so far, and each patch either doesn't work for most people or is filled with exploits/workarounds for cheaters/pirates. The game was released in a broken state, and public relations are nearly non-existent (as if they don't know any better). So... maybe Crytek hired a bunch of "noobs" to work on Crysis 2 for whatever reason and this is the source of this mess? It definitely has all the signs.
They "just" FAILed so much with C2, they're too embarrassed to show up and apologize to community for selling them piece of shhhhhhh...

I'll accept your post, yeah it's hard to make a game bug free now a days, but look at it this way: nearly 70% of players are having the online account bug according to a poll in one of the topics I read. If they would have had a couple different rigs set up, large and small, by gamers who are part of their staff, they could have detected various hardware issues. They are a much bigger company than you and a bunch of guys making a game, ok. with the resources they have available they should have been CAPABLE of a lot more.

This "go make your own game then criticize Crysis2" is the stupidest 'argument' imaginable.

Criticism comes from familiarity with a given medium. You don't have to be a director to be a movie critic. You don't have to be a novelist to be a literary critic. And you don't have to be a f*cking programmer to be a video game critic. I think my 20 years of video-game playing experience qualifies me to make an objective assessment of -any- game, especially who whose pedigree I am so very familiar with. This goes for the OP as well, assuming that Crysis2 isn't the first game he's ever played.

Thread starter has a point about this game being broken. It's not unplayable and I generally have a good time playing it. Some things could've been handled better through more thorough game testing. I don't know, but it could be the engine or the designers themselves. This engine is new as ****, and there are bound to be holes in the gameplay( I only infer), but even so, bottom line is not enough game testing.

Also, the thing I think what really makes people mad about this game is it's hype and it's groundbreaking first game. I'm not a nano-head. I'm more of a gear-head, (Metal Gear, that is) and if that game was broken like this, heads would ROLLL!! I'm not jk-ing.

Woah woah woah. YOU get off YOUR 5h1t horse.

If it's too difficult, then don't offer.

That's like me offering to do your job, which is difficult. I have you pay me, and when I don't deliver, you start complaining. Which by the way, you totally have the right to complain, all things considered. It is your money after all. However, I have to again, point out that the job is difficult, so you should get off your high horse and don't complain about me not being able to do my job.

Yeah, your logic doesn't work out at all.

Common bugs aside, the game's still "playable." But when they lose your stats due to a crappy database, that's where I draw the line.
You might as well just remove modules from the game completely if they don't work for everyone, and may be take out the stats too. But again, nobody wants such a 5h1tty game.

And if you know so much about this, why don't you explain to us why a 50-70 dollar game can't even track stats properly?
I will bet anyone's ballz, including yours, that I can just randomly name any FREE TO PLAY FPS game and they can do a better job with stats tracking. In fact, as far as I know, this is the ONLY FPS game that has stat tracking problems.

So no we're not on high horses, we're on our feet, just complaining because we paid for this abomination of human kind.

The "go make your own game argument" is like saying you can't judge someone by calling him stupid when he clearly is, unless you do that same stupid 5h1t yourself. Yeah I'm not makng any sense, because it doesn't.

If you're on Crytek's side, and this is the best argument you could come up with...
Well, I guess that's the answer why we have this amazingly retarded game before us.
