DX 11 PROOF!!!!

@ Bainshie
It's not a good representation. People who play crappy games like Football Manager 2011 also install steam and that are people that just have some standard PC. So there are a lot of people using steam that are not real gamers.

Besides that Crysis 1 was a game with great graphics. Because of that a fan-base exist around it. So people that are interested in Crysis 2 are more likely to have a higher interest in graphics and so a system for higher graphics. I did see some poll on this forum asking what people had. Just under 75% had DX11. A few had DX 9 and the rest had DX 10 or hardware that supported a higher version then DX9 but worked with XP.

People who play Football manager and said games are gamers as well, and are also the kinds of people who would be interested in playing Crysis 2, therefore they are just as important .

And that poll was BS. most of them were either: Lying because they think that DX11 = their DX10/9 cards will magically become better, or didn't know the difference and think that DX11 is a software only update. Not to mention it had like what, 100 people vote in it? The steam survey has hundreds of thousands, and is therefore a far more accurate representation of the current gaming PC.

Actually there DX10 card will perform better if the use multi-threaded rendering from DX11 since it also is supported in DX10, thoughto a somewhat lesser extend, but still there.

And if you go by the steam survey, 61% of all ppl own at least a DX10 card and vista, so they can run DX11 just have to fall back to DX10 but still see some benefits.

Programming for DX11 is a win/win since you either get better performance for DX10/DX11 cards or use the more efficent api to realize also more visual effects if you want, compared to DX9.

The best example is the DX11 render path in WoW, it basically looks the same as the DX9 path, but provides ~30% more performance.
They also could have used the increased performance to put in more effects and get the same frame rate... as said its a win/win situation.

I just can't see the point in releasing the DX9 game in 2011 for PC!

Crytek says that consoles breaks the PC development with their DX, but Crytek release the game on DirectX9 in 2011 - ridiculous

What bothers me isn't the lack of dx11, its the lack of information from the Cry-guys.

Even if they made false promises and the likes, I'd be satisfied just with an apology or an admission of guilt or real legit confirmation that they're doing something about it. Not this silence. That's what really gets me.

The worst thing devs can do is lacking communication.

The official response is the same as it's been. It's coming in a patch eventually. You "uncovered" a a secret or something. Old news.

Thats not the official response the official response (let me simplify it for you) is "no comment and everything else you read is a lie".

the date is 9th november 2010, it's outdated

the date is irrelevant. it could have happened in 2008. the fact is is that the CEO said it.

And it was never corrected.

Clearly you didn't read (let me simplify this for you) the whole thread. I said that a few posts later.
