Crash/Profile gone

Post » Wed Jun 01, 2011 7:52 pm

I have experienced multiple lockups playing this game. After the last one, I restarted, had to log back in to the game, and my profile was gone! I haven't really played the multiplayer yet, but it's not like I appreciate losing my SP progress either.
Has anyone else encountered this?

My rig -
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU
8192MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTS 240
Windows 7 x64

I got my profile back, but the game rarely plays for more than 15 min before this crash happens. i suspect it's a heating problem, but I've turned the settings down as far as they can go.

How about turning up your GPU fan? lol If you do believe it is a heating issue

I'll use afterburner and give it a lash, if after that and a good case clean it still happens, I'm calling shenanigans. Either on my card or (more likely) on the game!

Ok, I cleaned the inside of the case, shocking amount of dust :O I haven't had the crash problem since, though it does still push the card fan to the maximum and the GPU temp can hit the high 90's. Hopefully it won't crash it again though.

Ya, it crashed again. Jesus Crytek, not to be a whiner, but you seriously need to sort out the problems this game causes on lower end rigs, a soon as I slightly upped the resolution, the game shat the bed. It's not a problem with my card, as it runs everything else fine, and I just gave the PC insides a thorough clean.
I hope the lower spec is on the Crytek to-do list.

If your graphics card is overclocked, or your CPU, try setting all overclocks to the default clock speed.

No, there's no overclocking. At this point I'm hoping the eventual patch will sort it, I don't think there's anything wrong on my end.

Yeah, a lot of people are having crashing problems. I had them myself, but removing my overclocks fixed it. I'm sure the next patch will fix it all.

Ya, tis a bit of a heat-whore of a game alright :) Still, when it's more stable, I'm going to rip into it, fresh playthrough.

Just playing through again after 1.2 patch. Still the same crash, play for a while, then black screen, then a 'no video input' message audio continues playing, and the pc doesn't respond to keyboard input.
