I install my games on a different drive than my root, and I only keep my os drive 40gb in case of hd crashes, I've experienced one last month and didn't have the registry settings, some games even with registry setting will not install a patch without a whole bunch of bs! this patch located the crysis 2 folder and did it in an instant. Way better than doing it in game!

For the first 1.1 patch, I used the manual installer. I did not want to risk using the auto-updater that everyone was complaining about. I like to make sure my patches and updates are installed clean. Good set up by the way. Is your OS drive an SSD? I've always wanted to use a small SSD just for my OS.

It is the real thing. I used this myself, and it is hosted on EA's cental server. No way it could be a virus.

I just have 2 satas in raid 0, its fast enough for me haha. Its just easier working with a 40 gb partition because you are more conscious about conserving space and its not much to back up, I can compress it in minutes. But if I get to a point (soon) when I will get some ssd's then a 40 gb partition will work out wonderfully for that. I guess its using linux for all these years is where I learned to partition everything lol.

So what benefit is there for us to use it? Does it fix anything in particular that you've noticed. Thanks for that. How did you run across that, Chron?

Ahh. See right now I just have a single SATA Western Digital 250GB Hard Drive. Simple, but it works. I really only upgrade my hardware when If I have the money, or if I really need to.

To have peace-in-mind that your patch installation will work properly, where the auto-updater may still have flaws and screw up the installation. You can also use it if the computer you're playing on has no internet connection, or a very slow connection, for all those 56k'ers out there. I did use the auto-updater at first, but I used it just enough to monitor where the program was getting the download from, and I quickly copied the link. I'm surprised the Crytek admins haven't supplied a link themselves as they did with the 1.1 patch.


PLAY ONLINE MULTIPLAYER EVEN AFTER PATCH 1.2!!!!

The patch knows when you used a cracked .exe or not, if you use a cracked .exe then it won't detect your game, so you need to use the original Crysis2.exe


What you need to do to get the game running on patch V1.2 + multiplayer:

1: If you haven't backupped the original .exe of V1.1 patch, then you need to put the original Crysis2.exe of V1.0 in your directory.
2: Patch the game to V1.1 again for original V1.1 Crysis2.exe
3: Run the game to patch it to version V1.2
4: Apply the multiplayer crack for V1.1
5: Run the game and be happy, it all still works, except I don't see other players chat when playing a match, for the rest it all works.

This was extremely useful for me.

My game didn't auto update to 1.2 and there was like only 30 servers remaining and I was 0.o so I went to re patch and this fixed everything.
Now I got many hundred servers.

I keep getting this error " Cannot delete target file: C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis 2\\bin32\Crysis2.exe"
Both from the auto updater and the patch that i tried doing manually.
Any help would be much appreciated.
