Post » Wed Jun 01, 2011 10:44 pm

So im hearing a lot of talk about Direct - x11 and its awsome.
But i would like to know what is about Direct X 10, there is no information about it or atleast i havent found any.
Will there even be support for Direct x 10, becouse a lot of people still dont have DX-11 card, if someone know plz write something.

OFF Topic: Did anyone find solution about those broken (dark) textures on some maps in MP?

I think DX10 and 11 are somewhat inter-compatible or something

I read somewhere that DX10 won't be supported at all.

Then again, with Crytek's policy of complete silence about everything they're doing, who can know?

Wow that would be bad. If that to be truth ,that would mean that all of people that bought dx10 card are preaty much screwd.
And i dont have intention of buying dx11 card anytime soon.

I suppose you could say that DX11 is DX10 with a few extra fancy features, so if you only have a DX10 Card you will get the features for DX10, but the DX11 features will be locked.

Upgrade your machine to Dx11 or stay at Dx9. Don't bother asking for outdated coding to be added in just to suit a minority that can already use Dx9 flawlessly. Dx11 is better than Dx10 anyway. Just upgrade.

if dx 10 doesn't worth bothering asking, does dx 9 worth making?

Let me explain to you... DX10 is for intent and purposes a big pile of steamy ****. The only game that seemed to implement it right was Far Cry 2. The effects that DX10 brings to the table are not worth the performance hit.

if you have a DX10 graphics, you can run the game in DX11, with some options having typical of dx10

Ignoring the bad English. I think you're asking "Why would Dx9 be used if another older Directx(DX10) isn't worth asking for?"

The answer is... The difference in features between Dx9 and Dx10 is HUUUGE! The difference between Dx10 and Dx11 is so small. Now, that doesn't mean it's easy to make a patch for Dx10. It means that it isn't worth the effort to code an entire game around THREE different runtimes.

In a situation where, one is usable by everyone(Dx9), one is usable by the graphical enthusiasts(Dx11), and one is used by a small bit of the population for a astronomically smaller version of the graphical enthusiasts one(Dx10). Which has nearly the same computation demand as Dx11, by the way.

Based on my exp on HAWX2, DX10 cards can run in DX11 mode with features exclusive to DX11 disabled.

My graphics card is DX10 compatible, and I can run games that require DX11 (WoW, etc).

That right. Some features of dx10 and dx11 are common. Just that DX10 cards won't do all the DX11 effects and run less smoothly.

It's like when u could change the cvar in crysis 1 and have quality of DX10 in high settings, but without the complete quality of DX10.

Think it's a good explanation.

Givven the circumstances I would agree with dumbing DX10, even though I myself do have a DX10 card and I'm not supposed to upgrade before 2012. A guy made a poll and those of us with DX10 are infact quite few to worth the extra programming. Newer hardware is available and since we decided not to upgrade, we can't have any high expectations.

By your logic DX 11 should not be implemented for the same reason.

DX11 is backwards compatible with DX10, so all you DX10 cards owners can stop worryng about it

Yea the DX11 API allows users with DX10 cards to use the performance benefits of DX11, but minus tesselation, SM5.0 and advanced AA features. You still get SM4.0 over DX9 and you still benefit multi-threaded rendering from DX11.

So all is good and devs don't need to add a specific D3D10 render path.

Thx people (minus trools) for explenations. Good to know that my DX10 card will support some DX11 features.
Dont realy care about tessalation couse it is a performance dumbing, and rest seems miniscule to me, expect maybe shaders 5.
So thx again.
