True power of DX11 = multi-threaded rendering.

Post » Thu Mar 31, 2011 10:05 am

I sincerely hope that Crytek implements DirectX 11 multi-threading rendering features in upcoming DX11 patch for Crysis 2. When properly implemented in both drivers and games, DX11's multi-threaded rendering capabilities are going to allow developers to push a lot more stuff out to the GPU without immediately bottlenecking the CPU.

A good read here. Thanks to Ryan Smith for information.

Currently, it seems that Civilization V is the only title with DX11 multi-threaded rendering enabled. Kudos to Firaxis.
Full support for multi-threaded rendering was finally enabled in nVIDIA's Release 270 drivers.

I think Crytek is just waiting for this features to be implemented in AMD's drivers. Then Crytek and Microsoft can high-five and throw a DX11 press party.

I really can't wait to see what Crytek does with dx11, I'm confident it will be all kinds of win!

Why would they care about what ATI/AMD does? If your statement was true, Nvidia would probably be saying "a million bucks if you get DX11 out before AMD has drivers for it".

Civ V is afaik the only game that is with DX11 more fluent than with DX9.....this is at least what one of the gaming magazines reported.

If C2 with DX11 isn't lowering the FPS too much, it would be great.

Who need multi-threaded rendering when this game is completly playable even on laptops and 100 usd graphic cards? Who wants DX11 where thera are low res textures in the game compared to 4 years older brother? There is already so much effects of all kind thats its enough IMO. What this game miss is normal AA (not **** postMSAA which blurs everything), better textures and some AI and multi fixes. And thats all what they can add at this stage.

You do know the only CPU that uses that is the i7 and that it is most likely used limited in this game.

AMD cards from the HD5000 series onwards are all full DX11 compatible. I don't know what would AMD have to implement more if they already support DX11 lol...

Just because we get DX11, doesn't make the game instantly amazing though. Sure, we SHOULD get better graphics, but Crysis 2 will still lack the mods and features that I loved the most about Crysis 1

We can expect extra benefits with next drivers from amd to 70% in CiV 5, so AMD is also doing good job. Let's wait and see how multi-threaded will work in Crysis 2. Better FPS with better graphics would be great. I mean why microsoft is doing new api and we - the customers can't really use this in 100%? dx11 should be faster than dx9 and dx10 with new graphics card.

dx11 isnt going to change whats fundamentally wrong about this game unfortunately. Yes, it will be nice to have, but its not changing much.

Like others have said DX11 will not change the crappy textures they ahve used in this game at most they might jsut add some nice lighting features..

What Crytek should do is go back to the First Crysis game and up that engnie to DX11 then re-launch Crysis :) would be a lot better than then wasting time adding DX11 to this hehe :)
