Crysis 2 no visual but everything else works?

Hey

I have a problem with crysis 2, I can run the game and play for awhile but after about a minute of play the screen will go black.

I can still see the HUD and the game is generally still working(audio works, I can hear myself moving and see subtitles) but I cannot see a thing unless I change the resolution/vsync settings (by turning it off, then on again) and then I can see again but only for another minute, I can also alt tab back to the desktop which also allows the visuals to return but as I said, only for a moment!

My rig is
Windows 7 64
Intel Core 2 6600 @ 2.4 GHz
4 GB Ram
Nvidia GeForce 7950 GT ( a message pops up at the start of the game saying unsupported graphics card, don't know if that helps but when I googled the problem allot of the results said it didn't mean much)

I have already made sure that my drivers and the game is up to date.

What could be the issue?

it's REALLY annoying! Could it be anything to do with corrupt .dll files? The strange thing is that it can happen at any time and not just when the cpu is pushed!

I know that graphics card is considered a little dated/below minimum requirements for this game, but I'd try updating your video card drivers honestly. I've had the same issue in the past with BF BC2 where the video drivers would crash causing the game screen to go solid white yet I can still hear the game and I can tell the controls are responding to me.

Try both updating to more recent video drivers/beta drivers, and even downgrading to older drivers if that doesn't work. Also may consider a slightly newer card if you can afford the upgrade, I believe the 8800GT is the minimum recommended card last I checked.

I have the same "black screen" problem described here :
