CRYTEK SUPPORT - WAKE UP! Computer lock up on startup logo.

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 1:06 am

Hello all,

When I load this game, Seam version, I reverify integrity of the game, comes back normal. I play it and at the first eyeball logo, the mouse starts slowing down, like it's not registering all the input, Then it locks. When it locks, the whole system hard locks.

This started about two weeks ago. Before that the only problem I had was the insane flickering, which I fixed. the game was ultra smooth and pretty and fun.

-I run an intel quadcore @ 2.8MHZ
-Radeon 5970 HD 2BG RAM 11.14 drivers. I've tested this with drivers 10.12 all the way through 11.14 Same problem every time. I uninstalled it and reinstalled to the same drive. I then uninstalled Steam, reinstalled it and Crysis 2 to another hard drive, same problem. I have a similar problem with Total War: Shogun 2, but it at least lets me play it at times.
-Windows 7-64 bit.

I disable as much in the background as I can, I have no firewall active other than windows ATM, and antivirus spyware is down too.

What information do you need from me and how can I get it to you? I appreciate all help and am really frustrated because the first hour I got with the game was fun

Any overclocking going on? Shogun and C2 is demanding. If not check your computer for dust, make sure your fans are running, if you have a small case open it up. My brother had big problems because his case was to small...

No, no overclocking. Temps are fine, processors are fine, I can run bulletstorm maxed out no problem, homefront pretty high, again no problem.

Crysis2 was working now it's not even a little, and I can only get a game going on TW:S2 once out of every 7 or 8 installs / uninstalls.

Okay. I installed Crysis one and homefront and played them both with no problem. Right after I installed Crysis 1 and directX drivers over to make current a wonderful thing happened. I played for about 30 minutes. Then the screen began to get cluttered with hi res explosions and I heard that matrix phone sound and it crashed. I'm about to try playing it again and seeing if it'll load.

I think we have the same problem and our system is very alike, i running a Quad Core q8400, since a bought my xfx 5970 with some games i got the hard crash and only reseting solves, i notice it only happens on Directx 9 games, try instaling the Catalyst 10.5 driver and see if it works, for me it seems to be driver issue and every time i got the 99% GPU Load on the 11.4 preview and start crysis2 the system locks, you can also try and play windowed.

If this is a dual AMD gpu issue i am screwed. i get my 6990 here in a few hours and 11.4 is the only working driver for that card :P.

i recommend what Sohaim said in reinstalling an older driver.

Just a note: ALWAYS SAVE YOUR DRIVERS ON YOU HDD. that way if you have one working you will always know to keep it in case there is a new driver that comes out and that driver gives you problems and it is a easy revert back to the old one.

ALSO DRIVER SWEEP!

Guys: "I've tested this with drivers 10.12 all the way through 11.14"

I've had more luck with reinstalling directx and deleting the blob file.

Hi, is ther a better forum for this sort of thing to be in, because I'm getting no help here. I paid for the damn game to play. Not take up space. Don't run out the clock so I can't return it. Help me fix it.

Deleting the blob firle for the Steam version is only for a quick fix. It isn't easily replicated. And isn't 100%. Same with DX drivers as if you have the newest version, the install program doesn't want to mess with them.

You've been tricked--the game is unfinished and untested. There are hundreds of threads about the incredible number of technical issues, all symptoms of carelessness. It won't ever be fixed and there is certainly not going to be any support for it, unless you think being told to reinstall is meaningful advice. Just uninstall it.

That solves nothing. I paid money, I want to play it. I can't return it, it's a steam purchase.

ANYONE FROM CRYTEK, IT WOULD BE LOVELY TO GET SOME HELP HERE.

I've tried submitting a question at the EA site, the site autoloads this forum again without letting me stay on that page. All cookies are allowed.

I spoke to Cry-Adam on the steam site then he disappeared. No solution.

WTF is going on with you guys? It's a simple question. Crysis2 locks up at your logo. There aren't known workarounds, so how about some formal help, or at the least, show me how I can get a refund. Because otherwise you're stealing from me. Understand? A broken product, no support and taking money = customer that sympathizes with pirates, will not buy anymore products from you, and will actively assist boycots and spread negative viewpoints around.

Broken product + active customer support = less annoyed individual who might be more likely to continue to buy your products.

As I don't pirate, and bUy a ****-ton of games all year long, I'm the one you want to keep happy. I'm your target market.

NOW HOW ABOUT A LITTLE GODDAMNED HELP!

It was fixed. Without your damned help.

Pathetic. You'll not get any money out of me again.

Forum signatures are broken and don't display. I want you to think about this fact.

When the Crysis 2 forum is laughably broken and unmoderated why do you have such lofty expectations? There is going to be no support, no patch, no reason to even think about Crysis 2 again.

I know. I'm silly like that. I believe a handshake means something, that the concept of honor isn't maleable.

What a dummy I am, to think that a product might perform as advertised.

Texez, I'm a little confused as to whether your issue is fixed ("It was fixed. Without your damned help.") - if it is, maybe you should've shared the solution for the others here? Anyway, I doubt your issue is fixed unless you replaced some hardware in your PC. Your symptoms are CLASSIC bad video card memory, though it could be other hardware-related issues that cause the card to crash. The fact that it happens in the only other "demanding" game you listed is further proof of this. I know it's an annoying issue, but flipping out at Crytek for not fixing your PC components magically for you is stupid. Yes, they should have been able to diagnose this and tell you, but technically they're not experts in all PC issues, just issues with their software. You're locking up immediately in the game, others with the same drivers/hardware as you do not have the same issue (they may have issues but not the SAME issue), and it's happening in other games. Is this that hard to figure out?

You owe Crytek a bit of an apology, in my opinion. They've made some major mistakes with Crysis 2, but your issue is not one of them (based on your description at least).

BTW, even if you don't overclock your card, I bet it is "factory OC'd". Either way, try turning down your clock speeds, especially memory. I bet the issue will go away (and you'll have to RMA your card if you want to play at the advertised clock speeds). It could also be system memory or something else, but it sounds A LOT like a bad video card.
