OK SO Flickering, now something else.

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 12:45 am

Flickering problem was fixed in the recent patch by ATI that was released on the April 16th update.
But now im getting no flickering but this weird blob shape on my screen that moves when i walk and the screen is just darker in general when i dont move, and when i pan around, in some parts of my screen, are normal but its still a weird screen problem.
ideas? suggestions?

I have the SAME PROBLEM!!! I resolved the flickering on my HD 5970 and now I have the same exact problem. Shadows pop in and out and its dark when you dont move. Also, when you aim down your sights the screen goes black for a second before they come up. I was having SO much fun with this game and now it is AGAIN unplayable!

If you already have an autoexec.cfg, see if sys_spec_PostProcessing is in it. If so, block it by adding ; in front of it.

Like this f.ex ";sys_spec_PostProcessing = 2" (without the ""). If sys_spec_PostProcessing isn't in your autoexec at all, add it anyway like in the method I just mentioned ";sys_spec_PostProcessing = 2".

If you don't have an autoexec.cfg.. well, create one, add the ";sys_spec_PostProcessing = 2" (without the "" ofc..) and that should be all.

Yea sorry to hear about your bad decision to waste money on an AMD product. Their video cards and drivers always have these issues with games and bugs. Then they release a driver update to fix one problem then it creates a whole new problem, really silly how they can never just get it right. It is amazing how much issue and bug and glitch they keep having with their stuff.

Nice workaround advice Sh1mt +1

I don't think its due to problems with all the postprocessing, but rather with just one part of it.

What you could do to isolate it is keep the entire sys_spec_PostProcessing blocked as Sh1mt mentioned it but reintroduce the single post process values one by one in the autoexec.cfg to see which one might the one that cause the issue.

Those are the default values for the sys_spec_PostProcessing CVarGroup.

Code:
r_DepthOfField=2
r_MotionBlur=2
r_sunshafts=1
r_UseEdgeAA=1
r_Flares=1
r_Coronas=1
r_colorgrading=2
r_GlowAnamorphicFlares = 1
r_RainMaxViewDist_Deferred=100
r_MotionBlurMaxViewDist = 100
r_PostMSAA = 1
r_PostMSAAEdgeFilterNV = 1
r_PostProcessHUD3DCache = 0
r_MotionBlurShutterSpeed = 0.0055
r_HDRBloomMul = 0.7

Lol...not like Nvidia which released drivers that actually firied peoples cards.

And I see as many SLI flickering issues as X-Fire..so don't toot your horn so fast.

unless you're running 6990 - try running single card to see if it flickers - from testing some GPU's i know that Crossfire 6970's don't seem to flicker for some reason - but w/e

Actually this AMD product (HD 5970) has worked flawlessly with every other game. I hate fanboys that religiously follow a brand just because its what they own. I love my HD 5970 and Im sure if I had bought a GTX I wouldf have loved it as much. I honestly think that Crysis 2 was just a poorly designed PC game. I do enjoy it now though, I cant really tell a big difference without post processing... I wont miss it.

Really.. stop posting sh*t like that. My m8 has crossfire & amd cpu and crysis2 works without any problem on his system.
While on the other hand I have sli gfx & intel quadcore and the game still doesn't work properly (AA is not working on sli and still flickering on some spots). And no, it's not a driver, hardware, OS or any other issue, it's simply the buggy CryEngine 3 (yea, we all know CryEngine 3 is a masterpiece, but because the game is a console port, it's more a piece of cr*p).
