Crysis 2 crash every 36 minutes

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 10:07 am

Hi, my Crisis 2 crashs every 36 minutes, in game, in loadingscreen, in menu, in serverbrowser, but only on multiplayer, in singleplayer no crashes. I tested it more than 10 times, every 36 minutes it crashes and I musst restart to play new 36 minutes. But if i go afk the game still running more than 36 minutes but when i come back and (for example) i try to find a server I klick on server informations => instant in red color "no server information" 2-5 secs later it crashes.

This is only since patch 1.2, with 1.1 no crash.

Don't know why but this made me think of Stargate. It shuts down every 38 minutes because you'd need 'tremendous amounts of power' to extend that duration :p Getting a new PSU might help? Crytek obviously worked together with Stargate Command for patch v1.2.

Hehe, sorry, I'm sure you expect help and no stupid jokes. Can't help you with that problem. My only guess is a network timeout and maybe the game isn't that forgiving with patch 1.2 anymore and thus crashes.

Well I think You have temperatures problem try whit some tools look for CPU and VGA temperatures. Try MSI afterburner new beta and you will see in game GPU usage, temperatures and ventilator speed. I get about 90C in SLI (main VGA) GTX 470 OC and sometimes if temperature is going till 100C my VGA drivers restart at that moment. P.S. I play at MAX settings in 1920x1200 on average 90FPS.

Hi, thanks for the tip. I have installed MSI Afterburner Beta. My GPU Temp. is in game by about 107°C, by 100% Fan Speed. My CPU is by ~78-85°C. Between rounds my GPU cooles to 100°C. All in all after 36 game crashes :(
I play on 1280x1024 by max 50 FPS (i limited it to 50 by Advanced Crysis 2 Graphic Options (http://wasdie.blogspot.com/) and the lowest graphic quality.

107C??

That's terrible. The max safe operating temp for most GPUs is 100C.

Reminds me of my old 8600GT. Used to hit 115C under load.

But yeah 107C is very bad. Your GPU will die if you kepp it at those temps for too long. The game is crashing probably because your GPU is throttling down from all the overheating. Or because your display driver is crashing because the core is too hot.

Download SpeedFan and set your case fan to 100% and your CPU fan to 100% as well.

That may help.

Do you have like a timer in which you time when the game crashes everytime?

Idk, it's odd to see someone say "it crashes every 36 minutes" lol. Normally someone would say "it crashes every half hour"

lolololol

Woah, what's up with those temperatures? You should really check the cooling / fans in your computer case. Remove the dust or buy one or two additional fans which you then place into the front (blowing in) and the back (blowing out) of the case. Depending on the case a side fan 'could' help too.

Problem persists.. GPU fan speed is now permanently by 100% GPU temp. is by round about 60°C. CPU temp. is by ~ 50°C, but after 36 minutes game crashes.

greetings

and even after so many crashes, i took a stopwatch...

Its the game, not you. Somebody is claiming its related to an issue of faulty installation on page 17 but needs more verification and confirmation.

Those temps are way too high!! Maybe try putting your PC in a cold bath while playing Crysis? ;)
