Crysis 2 Editor and Free CryENGINE 3 SDK announced!

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 11:19 am

Hey all,

Great news.

Any word on a console version of mapmaking tools or ways to play the maps created on PC?
This is the only thing to get me back on the PC.

Is there a match making system on PC for custom maps?
And will it have controller support in these custom maps on PC?

Thanks.

Oh man i have been working on some concept arts on a game i would love to see come to pc!!.. I have a few other ideas but i tried the unreal engine and it is way to flaky!!!!! got about 60 to 70% done and it just was not working in areas i need the most destructive opportunities. I know Cry-engine 3 has a lot more destructible the the unreal.

Tell you something i would love to get my hands on it Frost Bite engine2!! Also. but I'm positive what i need to do will be so much easier and more tight then using any engine..

Not available until August.

No, that's the CE3 SDK. The actual Sandbox 3 editor will be available before that, so I'd expect it around June, July time. It's not exactly far.

It may be too late, but we're getting something at least. Better than nothing, eh? Plus, we're most likely getting the full package developers get, so Sandbox Cinema will be with it, hopefully!

Also, is Crymod getting a redesign, or is it getting newer functionality to support the tools and stuff?

yeah we will have the Crysis2 SB3, a CE3 SDK later for advanced modder. i think no one can complain about anything.

Even if was better they gave the SB3 with the release, at least, we are going to have it and thats a great new. Far away better than if they decided to only release a CE3 SDk.

And if we have to wait 2-3month to get a SB3 who work really correctly. Thats really not a problem. Crysis2 will live a lot of more years with all map / mod who will be release with the sb3 ^^

Whatever if that was in their plan, or if it was i seeing all customer desapointement about the none sb3, but at least they show they listen / care the community. And thats a second great news :p

Well, I was kind of expecting this...

[Insert .gif of partying crowd here]

To the drawing board then! There's pre production to be done (RPG on CE3 could be cool).

So is this confirmation that there won't be a Crysis 2 SDK?

So is this confirmation that there won't be a Crysis 2 SDK?
Last paragraph:

So to go over the details again:

Our next release will be the Crysis 2 Editor, this is for those of you who want to create content for Crysis 2. In August 2011, we will launch our Free CryENGINE SDK for all of you who want to create totally new content on CryENGINE 3.

Looks like there will be a C2 SDK (or at least SB3).
By the way... Crymod is back on 29th!? Seems like a special birthday gift for me.

I might think of what Tripwire is doing (red orchestra 2).

Actually, one part of the game is done by the editor itself, and the second part (or expansion) is made by modders who (I'm not sure) won a contest.

Since Crytek is releasing the SDK, why doesn't it come into their mind to do such a thing ? Pride and gratitude for the modders, great exchange of ideas.

Just an idea ;)

The mapping tool is the Sandbox 3. I don't understand what some people mean with a SB only for "maps" and a SB "like SB2" - if you pull ANYTHING out of SB2, you just can't make a level with all the features. SB3 just can't be anything else but full - but that is just for maps!

About consoles - yes, they MIGHT get custom content, as Crytek is including the LiveCreate feature(it makes content for all 3 platforms). But will we be able/have permission to use it on C2, that's the question.

Personally I do not want to hear about things like this until they "fix the issues" infront of them right now! Getting excited about a Crysis 2 Editor right now is kinda like how we were all excited about Crysis 2 getting released, then look what happened?

Fix what needs fixing first with all the bugs, connection issues, hackers, unlocks not saving, and get it patched to directX 11 and x64 bit mode. Once all that is done, then tell me about potential things down the road. There is no point in editing a game no one is playing anymore...

Everytime I go online to play Crysis 2, it seems that 90% of the servers are DEAD... and it's all due to the fact that there are alot of bugs/glitches/connection issues with the game, then ontop of that the hackers. Finally the disappoint for alot of people it was released in DirectX 9 32 bit only.

I see the disappoint everytime I try to get some multiplayer gaming in... Crysis 2 should have "packed servers", right now they are just wasting bandwidth cause no one is using it.

I too am disappointed, and I really hope a fix comes SOON, I am scared that by the time the fix it, people will have given up on Crysis 2 and moved on and I won't have anyone to shoot up with my fancy looking directX 11 version of Crysis 2.
