PC players VS XBOX players...is this possible?

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 11:12 am

I'm having trouble deciding whether to stick to Crysis 2 on PC or get it for the 360. Most of my friends have it for 360 and want to play online. If I were to get it for PC can I still play against 360 players? I found Crysis 2 on the 'Game for Windows' list, but even then I dont know how that works. Thanks for any feedback.

It will be like playing against team of aimboters since they have auto aim xD

Crytek (I think) always told the ppl proudly, that it will be possible for PC-gamers to play against Xbox-gamers...

From what I see sometimes in the killcam, it's already happening. But the killcam is still buggy, so I can't bring in any proof.

You can't do it...though it technically would be possible...there's no need for it though.

Portal 2 allows for PS3 and PC players together....and Mac players...

Crysis 2? No cross platform multiplayer, end of story. Noob.

It's not possible, not with Crysis 2 anyways. Some games do indeed let PC and Xbox play together (e.g. Shadowrun), but PC players generally tend to do better than Xbox players, simply because they can aim better. As such there's no cross-platform play in most games.

THIS.

Actually, if I recall correctly, someone did some study with this game and found the PC players came out on top every time simply because of the mouse & keyboard.

Well I have a few friends who play Crysis 2 with me on PC who use Xbox controllers are they are really good. I dunno how they do it but yeah, I think PC vs Xbox 360 would be fair, as long as they don't have auto aim. :)

pc gamers can turn around in a milisecond with the keyboard/mouse combo 360 gamers cannot it would be a massacre of shocking proportions resulting in many 360 gamers shedding tears all over their controllers trust me i have a 360 aswell it collects dust most of the time so i speak from experience on this.

There was a study once. They let average PC gamers play VS "pro" console gamers. The PC gamers completely raqed the console guys. Project abandoned.

Games like hawx or racing games could be multi format as pc gamers will probably use a joystick or controller so it'd be a fair challenge anything else would be pointless.

Same here. Have friends with Xbox and PS3 and these two platforms should be able to play against each other and against PC. I also thought Crysis 2 would be able to play against the other platforms. Yes, there may be some advantages and disadvantages to playing against all platforms, but thats the way the ball bounces. I would like to see it changed for all platforms to play against each other. Even though my personal preference is the PC, others is the consoles. There should not be a separation in the game. Well, what about the Mac? Have they been abandoned? I have friends that have Mac too! We are all gamers! We should be able to play together and not be sorted out or separated. Maybe that is why some games are going Web Based!

Some like their Tea hot, some like it cold, some like cream in their tea, some like it bold! But they still drink the Tea! Same with the game. All should be able to play together and not be alienated from one platform to the other.

This is a cool idea, but I still think the console gamers would have one hell of a time trying to keep up with the PC players. As others have mentioned, the Shadowrun project showed us that PC players came out on top of even the best console gamers 99% of the time. This is due to the ultimate precision that the mouse gives you while aiming. The console's controllers feel damn good to play on, don't get me wrong, (I play Xbox extensively) but they still come up short in speed and accuracy when compared to the PC. If you remember, there was a poll on the Xbox 360 fourm about "What kills you the most?" The top answer by far was "Getting shot in the back." I can tell you right now that's not the main way I die on the PC. For me on the PC its "Getting killed by a random grenade or cheap assed jaw." or "Loosing a firefight.". Cool idea, but I don't think it would be very fun for a console gamer. =/

agreed, ive read of those tryouts, Mouse aiming is far too precise against the controller,
they got raqed, no holes barred,...

Plz plz plz tell me what servers ur friends who uses controller for the PC version playes on,..
It would be soo fun to raqe them a little,.......Just kidding, :)
But Mouse VS controller, is no contest at all.. thats why they abandoned the concept many years ago.

It has been done in other games before, sorry I can't remember which ones but I do remember it happening in the past. But, and I don't mean to sound mean to console players but the truth of the matter is PC gamers see console players as little kids (and aim bot, call it aim assist if you want but its still an aim bot). And they dont want to play with little kids. Dedicated PC gamers see consoles as a 12 year olds toy. A lot of pc gamers have power supplies that cost almost as much if not more than a ps3 (see what I am getting at as being "toys" and thats just one little part of the pc).

And even though its not really the console gamers fault, a lot of PC gamers see consoles as the reason we get crappy ass games. Companies that are greedy and to lazy to make a stand alone PC game and just send us a console port after we spend thousands on a gaming rig to play the best the gaming community has to offer.

P.S. Even with aim assist (aka aimbot) you would still get owned by a serious gaming mouse. So don't take it personally, we don't really blame you and not want to play video games with you guys (console gamers) but the console industry kinda screws us over a lot with platform porting.

always PC vs console X)

is it possible (theoretically) to make multiplayer between xbox and ps3 users? I think that would be fare because both use gamepads. PC is world for itself :)

I play online with the controller and I have not been raqed as some may claim. For one, a good chunk of the kills in the game is opportunistic kills and not skill kills.

MS linked a XBOX and a PC to play an FPS MP. On the PC there were normal gamers, on XBOX - veryo good gamers. But because of mouse+KB PC players won every time. Can't find the linke now...
