Make sure you start the Crysis2Launcher.exe in admin mode.

Do I need to change my desktop icon to another in order to run 64bit mode or is it auto detected? How can I check to see what it's running as? I'm assuming r_displayinfo 1 still doesn't work.

At this time Crysis 2 is only runing a x32. x64 might be supported in a later patch, but this hasn't been confirmed yet.

Then it seems to be a problem with the patcher itself. I did run the Crysis2Launcher.exe on a x64 win7 build (even without admin mode) and it worked just fine for me.

Try to use a direct download to update: http://akamai.cdn.ea.com/eadownloads/u/f/eagames/crysis/patches/Crysis_2_final_1.4m_Patch.exe

The manual patch didn't work for me either, I got the same error message as I did from the Crysis2Launcher.exe

If you are using Win7x64 (or WinXP x64 / Vista x64), your install location should be in the "Program Files (x86)" folder, not the "Program Files" folder. That might be your issue.. did you choose a custom install path when you install C2? Cause by default, it installs to "Program Files (x86)"

It would help alot if you would post your OS as well as the path you used to install Crysis 2.

Just the "//" error makes it look like there is some kind of directory adressing issue involved. Not that i could help ya deal with it, but it would at least give the devs an idea what might go wrong.

At least for me it looks like you either run Vista, or you forced Crysis2 to install into the x64 Program root directory both options that might not be traced by the patcher.

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, and my game is installed to C:\Program Files (x86). I didn't do any custom installation or anything, everything is default from the disk.

Did you try turning off firewalls and any anti virus spyware programs? Maybe something got changed. If nothing else try rolling back to the last restore point and then trying it this has helped for me in the past when for no reason at all things got goofy.

Rolling back to the last restore point actually did it for me, I really wouldn't have thought to do that to be honest so thanks for the suggestion. Thank you to everyone else who replied too.

Ya I am currently in computer science classes but my first year so I am by no means an expert on these things but over years of gaming when patches all of a sudden wont load correctly or all of a sudden you get up one day and turn your pc on and its "sluggish" for no reason at all, rolling back to the last restore point usually works. I think it is just windows registry errors or something because when you create a restore point thats what it does. It takes a snapshot of the registry values. So it usually saves a lot of time guessing and fiddling around, now that every thing is working (and I am glad to hear it) this is the important part "Create a restore point Now" while everything is good.

The following is the fix:

Simply go to ur task manager and close crysis2.exe in the process tab.

Had exact same problem but easily solved

WORKED! haha, Thanks VilliLapsi! Ow ya a chocolate :D

In 64bit systems often times two 32bit instances will run of the same process, the launcher probably only closed down one, so thats why it could not delete the .exe, cuz it was still running...

Happy gaming! :D
